Capitalism 2

I absolutely love this game. It lets me do all sorts of things that you can't in the real business world. Want to increase the percentage of stock you own in your company, but don't want to pay top dollar for it? Shut down a couple key locations (hopefully you have the cash reserves to survive this, otherwise you should rethink your long term strategy) and watch your stock plummet faster than a child star hitting puberty. Rinse and repeat to bring your corporation entirely within your iron fist. Uh oh, during your little stock manipulation stunt, your competitor(s) moved in and captured market share in one or more of your core goods? You have two options, either 1. Cut your prices so low you risk bankruptsy if you haven't planned well in advance, or my favorite 2. Sell raw/semi-finished/finished goods to your ene- competitors and then either hike their price or cut them off entirely. If they don't have the infrastructure to take up the slack or are unable to secure alternate supplies, down they go. I focus on the manufacturing side of it. The retail side is too cutthroat, and the margins to thin. All in all, it's a great game. My only complaint is the lack of a level editor, and the limitation to four cities which you can't choose. I hate getting four cities of less than 500,000 people each, the markets are very hard to develop with such a limited base.

I love old games as the next person around here. This one has aged badly though. I am not talking about the graphics, they aren't my focus. My focus is the gameplay: There is not a lot to play around. My experience with the game boiled down to: Build something, research faster than the opponent, profit. Repeat. I had the feeling that there was just one approach to "win" the game, which to me is a big "No". The game is a product of it's time, should be put there, and not leave it. I am sure the concept can be improved hugely, but as the game stands, it lacks the "Game" part of a game. And that is a shame.

Capitalism 2 is simply t best business simulation game all time. Fun, addictive, and until you figure out the best strategies, very challenging. I simply wish Capitalism 3 would come out to build upon this. Perhaps make it popular for some multiplayer action.

This games allows you to live out your greedy Corperate dreams, it is easy to get into, there is a lot of ways for you to acomplish your goal, and it is very indepth at times.

Capitalism 2, even tough it obviously lacks this modern touch, still provides lots of challenging fun! It contains complexity on the level virtually uknown in todays' games but once you'll get along with it, running your very own corporation becomes very amusing. It also provides some basic learning about how enterprises really work. And as for me, as I've finished economic studies, gives another value to this game.
