Become a Gunslinger — Harness an array of weapons, from various revolvers to heavy-caliber cannons and machine guns. Every accurate shot increases your concentration, which allows you to unleash deadly shooting modes when outnumbered — and even deadlier ones when the brothers work together.
Brothers in Arms — Choose to embody Ray or Thomas, each with a distinctive gameplay style (close- or long-range), specific abilities (lasso, dynamite, etc.) and arsenal of deadly weapons (dual guns, long-range carbine, etc.). Take advantage of their strengths and you just might survive some of the fiercest fights imaginable.
Immersive Western Experience — Explore vast natural landscapes of the untamed mythical Old West on foot, horseback, in wagons and canoes. Visit iconic settings full of outlaws. The McCall brothers face a renegade Apache chief, a greedy Mexican bandit, a vindictive colonel — and those are just a few of the underhanded villains standing in the brothers’ way.
IMHO best entry in the CoJ franchise! Meaningful stories, touching characters, captivating plot and subplots...you name it, BiB has it! Graphics and sound aged remarkably good, considering.
Now for sale, even...grab it, you got no excuse for passing on this masterpiece!
i had played this on the 360, and it's not a case of nostalgia, this game is just technically brilliant, and has a very decent western story that would of been at home in Hollywood. in what is typical of Techland, they were pushing the mechanics of the FPS genre again here, and succeeding far better than what they had in Call of Juarez 1. the auto-contextual cover system in this game had finally delivered a near perfect system for FPS immersion, and as far as i'm aware hasn't been bettered since. my favourite of the Call of Juarez series, and amongst my top 5 choice of single player FPS games. i played it through thrice on the 360, and will do it again on PC. thanks GOG for finally getting this gem in the store.
First off, this is a good game. But unfortunately, it fell victim to some terrible design decisions.
Autoheal, extreme linearity, hit markers, grenade (dynamite) markers, corpses disappearing pretty much instantly the moment you turn the camera away from them even slightly and so on...
There are secrets hidden about but you will constantly keep getting a message that you are straying too far, making exploration extremely annoying.
Enemies also drop money which you can use to buy stuff, but because the corpses vaporize within seconds, it is very difficult to find where exactly you killed each enemy, leading to many missed drops and of course zero immersion and no satisfaction of looking over a battlefield littered with your dead enemies after a big shootout.
Besides the shooting itself, the story is not that bad. I finished this game a long time ago but after trying to replay it recently, I couldn't bring myself to play it for long because of all the little things I described above. It just seems way too obvious that the main target were the consoles and PC was an afterthought.
Really a shame but the best Call of Juarez game is still the first one. That made me feel like I'm playing a proper PC shooter, not just a port of another console game.
Have to give this one a 6.5/10. I remembered having fun with the game in the past but I guess my tolerance for consolified FPS games has gone down over the years.
Absolutely played this game to death, the story is riveting and grips you all the way to the climax.
Not that we have a lot of western games on the PC but this is the best in my opinion.
If you have never played it do yourself a favour and buy it!!!
I was expecting terrible graphics, And controls after playing Call of Juarez 1. Boy was i surprised. Great graphics, Excellent controls, And beautiful scripting, Made this a game to remember. The Civil War at the beginning was way too much fun to play. And as the game progressed it continued to impress me. I do have to admit, That the quickdraw controls were very hard to master, But i did complete the game, So it's not impossible. This is an excellent game to own,I will replay it.
