Dual-stick controller is a must
Everything is fine, except that it's quite difficult to see your hero and enemies (everybody wrote about this so far). Soundtrack is gloomy and is just as it should be. Yes, action is here, with much blood, gore and at ultra-violence level. Weird pleasure postal-alike. Unfortunately, dual-sctick controller is not in requirements, but I would say that the game without it is unplayable - you can map everything to mouse and keyboard but... ...I was not able to pass intro with such setup, but I have completed the game with controller rather fast. Virtually ran through.

Like Broforce with a Doom theme
Lots of enemies being created around you, but you see where they are going to spawn so just shoot at their locations before they have been created while dodging the traps. Would be more fun with a variation of themes because it gets repetitive after a while. Choose this game if you liked Broforce but got tired of constantly changing between characters.

Good game with terrible visuals
The gameplay is fun, but the entire game just looks terrible. It's hard to tell the enemies and yourself for the background and there's far too much noise on the screen due to the game having a film grain effect on top of it's 8-bit sprites.

A Repetitive Imitation of Past Games
NOT RECOMMENDED. Skip it - it is not worth wasting your time with. A dull grind. It incorporates the worst aspects of 1990s game design. Bone-dry in terms of content. The "gore" is comparable to a cheeap 256 color 1990s game - tame and dull. The gameplay is repetitive from level 1 to the end. Enjoy the regular kill gauntlets where you kill the same enemies over and over and over again, Unity game too (I read the logs), though it seems the creators paid the premium to not show the Unity logo at the start of the game. Typical of Unity games, the game runs pretty hot despite utilizing minimal assets. The game length is very short and you can beat the whole thing under 90 minutes. Nothing to see there. This game is barely worth two buckaroos for a die-hard grinder. Get CrackDotCom's Abuse instead - that one shows how a proper game of this genre is done. It is public domain now. Take Abuse's good parts such as scripted events and somewhat smart enemies and varying level design - Butcher is NONE of that. Playing bad alternatives like Butcher is the best way to make your life feel as awful as possible.
