Brutal Legend

In essence, Brütal Legend is a perfect example of style over substance. It absolutely oozes charm and flair, but beneath all that is an unengaging narrative that wants to marry tragedy and comedy but only manages half of what it intends, endlessly repeated side-quests, an open world that only serves to house collectibles and metal looking scenery but not much in the way of towns or anything else that would hint that Brütal Land was actually inhabited and it’s all capped off by underwhelming RTS battles. It’s a shame, really. I’d love to see Double Fine take another crack at this IP someday. Get rid of the entire RTS schtick, make it a solid open world action game, maybe get someone who has experience crafting this type of gameplay, keep the lighthearted tone and invest in more character development. That’d be a game worth playing. But Brütal Legend unfortunately isn’t. It sadly isn’t as legendary as it should’ve been.

Haha. This game is definately different. In some areas, it may take 2 or 3 tries before you get comfortable controlling your character or vehicle or whatever, in that are, but I like the fact that if you die there, you don't get sent back to some spot that was like 6 hours earlier and lose all that progress like in a lot of games. This game autosaves at frequent points, so that's good. If you're a guy who likes to play a character who meets good looking babes, as you guys would probably put it, haha, and have dialogues with them about french kissing them or making out with them before you hit the water as you drive off a bridge, then you will love this game. lol. Oh and you mac users don't worry about the 10.6.8 or later. I know sometimes even the word 'later' doesn't always mean it will run on mountain lion, but this one does.

The Audio, The Style, ***THE METAL*** and the Lore are all absolutely awesome. They all have that awesome Metal aesthetic, driven to the extreme. It's glorious, with awesome soundtrack, featuring many artists from multiple genres of metal. Pity the gameplay is kinda meh. It's an Open World game, with story missions. So, yo ucan just roam around looking for colectibles, places to buy upgrades, doing the side missions and fighting the ocassional roaming enemies. The car controls... are decent, the fact that you have a wide selection of Metal songs to play on the car's radio is one of teh highlights. The car has also some weapons, so oftentimes the combat will be you usiing your car's rocket launcher, or the externally mounted subwoofers, to kill stuff. In the rare occasions not spent driving the car, Eddie gets to swing his axe, and play the guitarr, chopping, electrocuting and burning his enemies, or melting their faces with a guiotar solo (Literally, by playing the "Facemelter" solo), speaking of guitar solos, these are kinda like spells, the aforementioned facemelter, buffing allies, summoning your car, calling a Lead Zeppelin to fall on the enemies... Then there are the dreaded "RTS" sections (the only multiplier mode). They are... not taht good. Maybe mediocre. Capture resource points. summon units, upgrade base, summon better units, send them to fight enemies, to get their resource poiints and then attack their base. The enemies also have their hero, wit htheir respective guitar solos. There are 3 factions, each wit htheier unique units and solos, though the campaign only follows one of them, the other 2 (and a reskin of the first) appear only as enemies.

It is the holy tome for all heavy metal fans. It's the game that one doesn't simply sell on. It is the holy tome in which all headbangers must possess.

Yeah yeah yeah, the game is not perfect, but if you just give it a chance, you are going to have a great time! The dialogues are funny, the world is amazing, the music is awesome! The RTS bits frustrated me at times, but they are not THAT complicated, and I always wanted to find out what happens next.
