Wow! what an update.

Wow. What an Update. First time playing this updated "Directors Cut" Since around 2007 or 2008. I was baffled with the intro as it starts off without the bomb in the accordian at the restaurant which is how the vanilla version of Broken Sword starts. Nevertheless, our Polish Compatriots at CD Projeckt and GOG. Sure have done a phenomenal work by tasking themselves to bring this game from Windows 95/98/2000/XP. To Windows 11. The memories of me playing this as a Kid and Teenager and the low price made me buy it in the future or present day. But the gist of this game was that it was on the level of Simon the Sorceror, Terry Pratchetts games and it was a throwback to Indiana Jones.

No German original

For German speakers: Note that the original German version is not included, you need to buy from a different store for that. The German voice acting in the original is absolutely brilliant and much better than the English version.

General Tips for Beginners This is a point and click Adventure Game. Click on Options and then on the Audio tab to adjust the Sound Effects, Music and Speech Volume. Click on Options and the Screen Resolution tab to choose between Full Screen, Original or Augmented resolutions. Click on the flag below the Credits to choose the language for the subtitles. A flashing blue circle cursor indicates an area of interest. There are many hotspots that are not necessary to progress and not included in the walkthrough, but they provide humor and background and investigating all of them allows for a more complete experience. Moving your cursor over the flashing blue circle will bring up various action icons. READ ALL DETAILS : https://onclan.com/tip/general-tips-for-beginners.Y5CLeOj8fd6d9IUp

Try the Original first!!!

I have played this game multiple times. In a way it was almost avant-garde: a conspiracy thriller about the knights templar, long before The Da Vinci Code hit the shelves. I remember playing the original as a kid in the late nineties, and then, many years later, the Director's Cut. The first time I played the Director's Cut, it was on a Nintendo DS, and I quite liked some of the story elements they added. After having played it now for the second time on a MacBook Pro, I'm not so impressed anymore. Although the new storyline managed to get me interested, it didn't really lead anywhere in the end. You can't die in the game anymore, which took some of the thrill out of it for me. The graphics and the animation are uneven, to say the least. The Cutscenes, for some reason, end very abruptly... I could go on for hours. If I had only purchased the Director's Cut version of the game, I'd probably rate it three stars out of five. That is, if I felt generous. However, as the original game is included with the GOG package, how could I possibly complain? Again, not all is bad about the Director's Cut, some of the things they added are neat. But I wholeheartedly recommend trying the original version first.
