I really enjoy the combination of the amazing soundtrack by MAVS and 16 bit graphics with isometric view. It's really engrossing while not being too demanding. I am still in tutorial missions which would have been nice if they were made so they can be skipped but still enjoying every minute of it.
A 2d top down shooter with a 80's neon esthetic and a fun sci fi world. Tons of game, tons of missions, tons of replayibility. The controls are great, the art direction is great. The gameplay is great. I recommend it healthily.
If you enjoy isometric shooter gameplay, this game's got a lot of it, polished and ready to go.
It's got some heavy atmosphere, but truly all Brigador is is raw, polished gameplay.
A fantastic isometric action game with beautiful graphics, a fantastic soundtrack and even deep lore if you care to dive into it. With fully destructible environments and a large variety of vehicles and weapons you can lose hours just blasting away and trying to improve your tactics in every mission (of which there are a lot of).
That said it's a great blend of pure action and strategy as you have to choose how best to approach the enemies using the abilities of your current vehicle to your advantage from huge and powerful tanks to dinky little cars that rely more on being sneaky than full frontal assaults.
If you're a fan of mechs or vehicular combat or just wanton destruction or always wanted an old-school isometric game like Crusader: No Remorse in HD, give this a shot. It's one of the most overlooked high-quality indies on the site.
Easily one of the greatest isometric action games released last decade - No other games allow for such tactical combat. It is unparalleled in the genre; hit and run, sneak attacks, using smoke to cover your retreat, or your screen your attack. Activating your cloaking device until an enemy patrol moves past you, to blast their rear armor. Little details set this apart from all the rest - you'll love the intricacies and pure effort poured into this game. I have at least 400 hours in this game and still find new interactions with the weapons.
- 40+ 'Mechs, Tanks, and Agravs (Hovering vehicles) - all with customizable weapons/equipment These are divided up into three factions, all with distinct visual personality and combat style. 'Mechs vary from the smallest power suit and fast light units to massive, heavy, towering monstrosities.
- Extremely destructible environments. Almost every mission, the entire map can be flattened. All maps are lovingly hand-crafted - there is no procedural generation here, despite the "roguelite" tag - though there is a run randomizer for loadout and maps.
- Multi-level height system, allowing you to duck behind cover, smash through cover, shoot over cover, arc mortar shells down onto enemies in cover, and more.
- Exquisitely creative and fun weapon combinations. laser-shotguns, pulse lasers that cause explosions where they hit, full-auto rocket launchers, cannons, artillery (rapid fire mortars), rapid fire machine-guns. corrosive gas canister launchers...you can mount dual GAU-8s on either side of a Minivan that's stacked on several other cars as part of a siege engine (look up "Treehouse" + Brigador)
- Absolutely phenomenal soundtrack, very enjoyable to listen to both in and out of the game
- Very well written lore / world-building; great audiobook comes with.
- Tank Controls AND Twin-Stick controls (you choose!)
I would gush about this game more but there's a 2000 character limit. Try it, buy it, fall in love with it!
It's amazing.
