Breath of Fire IV
Description
In a far-away world, two continents float, separated by a vast swamp-land. For eons, no contact existed between the two continents because ships couldn’t sail across the expanse. At last, when the historic first contact was made between the two powers, war erupted!
After long and costly fighting between the Fou Empire in the west and an alliance of countries in the east, both sides exhausted all their strength and resources. With no other alternative, the two powers agreed to an armistice.
One year later, Princess Elina vanished. She had been traveling in the east from town to town, exploring battlegrounds and visiting war veterans. Her trail vanished in a small town near the front line. Nobody knew her whereabouts!
The Eastern Alliance wanted to avoid sending a large army to the front. Such a move would be a political blunder, breaking the armistice and stirring up hostilities. It became impossible to carry out a large-scale search for Elina. Time passed... with no sign of the princess.
Elina’s sister, Princess Nina, finally makes up her mind. She leaves on a journey in search of her sister – by herself.
Ryu
Ryu meets Nina while he is lying unconscious on a street in a desert town in the eastern continent. His race and native land are unknown. Ryu has a Dragon’s Eye, which empowers him with the amazing abilities to transform into a dragon and summon dragons.

Nina

Awful Controller Support
This is just a bad port. Had to request a refund as its basically unplayable for me Issues: If I have multiple controllers plugged it, the game just will not start, would instantly crash. On one of my controllers the dpad doesnt have any input, only analog stick, and the L3 press is read as the start button press On a different controller, only the button input works, analog and dpad just does nothing. on my steamdeck, the buttons just seem to be mapped wrong and if you go into the menus it requires a keyboard to leave the menus on my ROG ally, it works fine with the built in controls, but if i plug in a controller to play it docked, it doesnt read analog or dpad inputs. I hope they at least update it to properly support controllers. Because right now I just cant play

I love this game, but...
I love this game. I love the fact that this game got a new release and is being preserved. I love seeing it get so much love from the gaming community because of this release. But I can't recommend this version of the game. Not until the music looping problem is fixed. Fix that, and my score will be an automatic 5 stars.

Not working correctly on Steam Deck
This is more of a warning for potential buyers with Steam Deck than a criticism of the game (although I would be happy if the developers at GOG took note of this). When you start the game, you immediately notice two problems: - The game does not respond when you press buttons - The game seems to be rendered on top of the Steam overlay. When you press the Steam button or the three dots button, you will only hear the system sound, but you will not see any changes visually. With these bugs together, it turns out that you can't even exit the game (only by restarting your device), not to mention messing with the control settings to find a working configuration. I installed the game from Heroic Launcher with default settings.
