Totally Different than the Original
This game is very different from the original Breach and Clear. I read, Deadline is a "strategic tactical action RPG in a modern day setting, featuring Special Forces weapons, tactics, and equipment vs. horrific monsters." I found this a decent description. It has a combination of elements from games like Rainbow Six, XCOM, and at times is Diablo like for loot and respawns. The game can either be played in real time in 3/4 view or in Command Mode, a turn-based tactical version. In Command Mode, you can pause the action and individually assign commands to each of your squad members, allowing you to take your time, setting up tactical maneuvers from a top down view. You'll be able to create your own unique squad and over the course of the game earn xp from encounters which can then be used to purchase new abilities for your squad's respective skill trees depending on their specialization. Weapons are upgradable as well as modifiable. Your squad will use crafting benches that utilize the game's currency, Scrap, to increase your favorite weapons' stats as well as to add on reusable upgrades, such as sound suppressors and fore-grips. You will face zombie hordes and human mercs which the latter tend to test your tactics more than the former. I think the game should appeal to RTS fans or turn based fans. It has elements that both could find appealing. The graphics are well done and it has a post apocalyptic feel that also gives me hints of fallout and wasteland. I think it gets repetitive but you are grinding to level up and gain better skills and weapons which is usually part of these types of games. I've enjoyed it so far and think if the developers continue to add to it, it could be a five star game!
