Bloodstained®︎: Ritual of the Night is the FULL game experience, an exploration-focused, side-scroller action RPG packing all of the best features you've come to know and love from the Metroidvania genre into a single, content-packed game.
Play as Miriam, an orphan scarred by an alchemist’s curse which slowly crystallizes her body. In order to save herself, and indeed, all of humanity, she must battle her way through a demon-infested castle summoned by Gebel, her old friend whose body and mind has become more crystal than flesh.
WHAT'S IN THE GAME?
13 FREE DLCs via future content updates. “Speed Demon” Update containing Speed Run Mode, Boss Rush Mode and the Pure Miriam outfit available at launch!
Addictingly tight and satisfying gameplay alongside a rich new story in the gothic dark fantasy style of Koji Igarashi, the celebrated godfather of "Igavania" games.
Story cut scenes and NPC interactions fully voice acted by a star-studded cast, including actors like David Hayter, Ray Chase and Erica Lindbeck to name just a few. (Seriously, we have a lot of voice acting star power in this game, it's kinda nuts...)
Three playable characters, two of which have yet to be revealed...
Literally a metric ton of weapons and spells, which you can upgrade, level up and visually customize.
Beautiful 2.5D graphics: 3D models crafted with a lot of love and care on a 2D game environment. That means lots of cool tricks that "regular" 2D can't do...
THE FUTURE
Expect a worryingly large amount of announcements and updates, everything from updating the look of this page to the game in general. It's going to be one wild ride.

I really love the game, can't recommend it enough!
Only little problem : The abilities that open new ways should have their own menu, or at least should be highlighted as it is a bit tedious to look for them in the list each time you need them. OK, there is the shortcut menu, but it needs to be updated everytime you change your main weapon. But this is a minor concern in the overall greatness of the game. Buy it, you won't regret it!
From the character design, to the level design, to the story, Castlevania fans will notice many familiar features. Drawing inspiration from several of the second-generation Castlevania games, Bloodstained weaves them together and in some cases, outdoes them. Some of the not-so-great aspects of those games also carries over, as well; if you want to fully power-up a shard (think soul from Sorrow), be prepared to kill the same non-threatening demon dozens or even hundreds of times.
As happy as I am to see this ported to PC and available on GOG, I'm somewhat disappointed with the implementation. If your machine is a few years old, you'll need to lower the graphics settings to get it to run smoothly, which would be fine, except that doing so also causes the menus and maps to expand beyond the borders of the screen, making them difficult to use. Also, by about 75% into my first playthrough, I had already experienced 2 occasions where the game just died for no apparent reason. Hopefully these issues will be resolved in an upcoming technical patch, but until then, save often.
Overall, it's a fun game with some very cool moments, and is worth playing.
It plays like a Nintendo DS Castlevania game. I like it. I like the other Bloodstained game. Buy this game if you like the Nintendo DS Castlevania games, or lile Symphony of the Night. This game is fun. You should play it.
As title, I remember SoTN from waaay back, for years I was hoping that Konami would do a proper continuation of that title. Apparently IGA approached them in regard to doing just that, the powers that be at modern day Konami said "no" so he left & we got this beauty. If 505Games does more of this kind og game in the future, they'll have a regular customer in me.
This is what I've been waiting for forever. This game is Castlevania, but better as there is no Konami involved screwing things up or making it mobile (cell phone like) game. My only problem is when is the squel coming out? :) Though there was a complaint about no 21:9 aspect and I would have to agree with that need, 3440x1440 please. Also if you do make a sequal dont use the Epic engine, Epic games is bad, they are anti-consumer and need to go out of business.
