Bloodstained®︎: Ritual of the Night is the FULL game experience, an exploration-focused, side-scroller action RPG packing all of the best features you've come to know and love from the Metroidvania genre into a single, content-packed game.
Play as Miriam, an orphan scarred by an alchemist’s curse which slowly crystallizes her body. In order to save herself, and indeed, all of humanity, she must battle her way through a demon-infested castle summoned by Gebel, her old friend whose body and mind has become more crystal than flesh.
WHAT'S IN THE GAME?
13 FREE DLCs via future content updates. “Speed Demon” Update containing Speed Run Mode, Boss Rush Mode and the Pure Miriam outfit available at launch!
Addictingly tight and satisfying gameplay alongside a rich new story in the gothic dark fantasy style of Koji Igarashi, the celebrated godfather of "Igavania" games.
Story cut scenes and NPC interactions fully voice acted by a star-studded cast, including actors like David Hayter, Ray Chase and Erica Lindbeck to name just a few. (Seriously, we have a lot of voice acting star power in this game, it's kinda nuts...)
Three playable characters, two of which have yet to be revealed...
Literally a metric ton of weapons and spells, which you can upgrade, level up and visually customize.
Beautiful 2.5D graphics: 3D models crafted with a lot of love and care on a 2D game environment. That means lots of cool tricks that "regular" 2D can't do...
THE FUTURE
Expect a worryingly large amount of announcements and updates, everything from updating the look of this page to the game in general. It's going to be one wild ride.

Why buy on GOG.COM?
DRM FREE. No activation or online connection required to play.
Imagine taking all those old anime-styled Castlevanias we all saw and played on Gameboy and putting them all in 3D graphics whilst still making it the same platformer you always knew.
Sold.
This is literally a dream come true.
The following is a personal opinion from someone who only really plays RPGs and metroidvanias.
I absolutely love Symphony of the Night, of course as a pioneer of the genre of course it has some quirks. I absolutely love Aria & Dawn of Sorrow games. Portrait of Ruin was amazing. Order of Ecclesia was almost my favourite castlevania, but brought a little down by some design things I didn't like. Like the lack of an interconnected world mostly, and a world map. But omg the music in it is incredible.
This game? This. This is oh my god. All the mechanics and systems in this game take inspiration from the previously mentioned titles. But all is done in such an elegant and a loving way.
And it's absolutely gorgeous. And when I got into the main castle and heard The Entrance theme (Luxurious Overture) it literally brought me to tears from such a classic Castlevania nostalgic theme (Michiru Yamane thank you thank you|) and I got the OST immediately (though I will only listen to it when I actually beat the game).
I'm actually listening to that theme as I'm writing this review.
I got to a point in the game where the map actually opens up in a true metroidvania fashion and it literally doesn't matter what happens next.
And the best part is, more content is coming. And what littler bug fixes they will need to do. Game of the decade? Game of the decade. Until proven otherwise.
My only regret is not backing this absolute labour of love because of the the Mighty N9 kickstarter debacle.
TLDR: If you like 2D castlevania games like Symphony of the Night and later, don't hesitate. This is a definite buy.
I always loved Symphony of the Night, and this is that on steroids!
This is easily the best Kickstarter I ever backed!
Cannot recommend this game enough!
After obtaining the good ending of this game, I can say that this keeps all the excellent things that made the old Castlevania games fun, while providing new stuff that makes the game so much fun. The shortcuts system is brilliant, and is way to make you use different weapons. And the amount of weapons is insane, a lot of possibilities to enjoy discovering the castle.
As of 1.05 update, the game does have some bugs, but none gamebreaking. hopefully will be solved with the updates to come.
In my opinion this game is worth your money and time. I spent 16 hours getting the good ending but there's still lots of things to do ingame.
