Update Features
Textures on enemy models have been restored to their original console version aesthetic
Japanese voice-acting and subtitles have been added
Additional rendering improvements to water and other textures
Miscellaneous bug fixes
Enhanced and updated for modern systems by the game's original developers, this is the definitive edition of BloodRayne.
In the years between the World Wars, Agent BloodRayne works as a killing machine for The Brimstone Society – a top secret fraternity that hunts down and destroys supernatural threats. Two missions, five years apart, turn out to be connected by one man. For years, this man has been searching the world for powerful occult relics to bring about a new age of domination for the Third Reich. In this frenetic and bloody third-person shooter that unleashed the iconic red-headed femme fatale on the world, the dhampir Rayne faces horrific creatures, hordes of soldiers with an array of tools and firepower, and every Nazi officer that stands between her and the one she must stop.
Features and enhancements of the Terminal Cut edition, created by the game’s original development team:
Support for higher display resolutions (up to 4K / 3840x2160).
Upscaled cinematic videos
Support for modern gamepads (XInput)
Improved rendering with up to 4x anti-aliasing
Support for higher texture resolutions, allowing for use of uncompressed original textures
Improvements to effects such as reflections, water, fog, and shadows
So I'm a great fan of Bloodrayne and could easly pinpoint my sexual awakening next to my first time with it so when I saw that it comes out as remaster I knew I had to buy it and I've got to say it simply failed. It runs awfuly even on RTX 3070. It's just preposterous that 20 year old game runs so bad on high end gaming PC. Y'all should fix it
I have to assume that a *large* number of these reviews are from people who played this game when they were younger and view it with rose-tinted glasses, because this game was one of the most frustrating games I've ever played.
The story is pretty threadbare, I describe BloodRayne to friends as a female Blade, which is pretty accurate if you're using the movie Blade. She's fun and cool, but as deep as a puddle. Vampire Lara Croft in a way. A vampire fighting Nazis and other vampires, easy to get and ya don't need any gray areas.
The 'enhancements' of the game are, quite frankly, a joke. from what I can tell, they are: the game runs when you open it, you can play it in more than 480p, and the water looks slightly better. That's it.
The fighting is incredile stale, which involves you spinning in a circle around an enemy as you spam the left click, or being as far away as possible and hodling down right click. For most enemies, the best tactic is to run and press E, spin around to use them as a human shield as you drink their blood and listen to Rayne moan, then jump onto someone else. If it's an elite enemy, you just do it on their back instead. It is monotonous and tedious. It is exhausting.
One of the biggest flaws of the game is the saves. I managed to complete Red Faction without a guide despite it's steep difficulty and jankiness because of one thing: quick saves. BloodRayne has no proper quick saves. That means if you die because of the game's bullshit gameplay flaws, you must redo the entire level again. The boss fights multiply this enraging experience. Some of them are just tanks with a ton of health and heavy hits. The final battle is the worst example. Even DARK SOULS is more forgiving, because at least you get portable heals! You get so frustrated you just have to turn on God Mode (TRIASSASSINDONTDIE) in the cheats option) to get it over with to finish the damn game. There's also freezing enemies (DONTFARTONOSCAR). Don't be afraid to use them.
The game is fun, the heroin is sexy sure, but that's not enough.
The first part of the game is cool, you learn the basics and the enemies aren't to tuff. but more you progress to the end more its get difficult (well it's normal, but here, without some cheat code it will be a pain in the *** to finish it) Don't get me wrong i don't mind difficulty but when you need cheatcode this isn't the right kind of difficulty. The dev let this cheatcode option so that mean they are perfectly aware their game isn't well balanced.
The part in the middle of the game, in the mine could have been shorter. You do basically the same thing twice (looking for explosives and detonators). In the final act you have to eliminate another list of targets right after finishing the first one, to much repetivity.
This is an old kind of game, where you fight nazis and zombies nazis. You can add to that the bouncing breats, the moaning when you suck blood to regain life, the great cleavage and tight clothes of all women and you have oversexualized women character. At least there is coherence because all of the are vampire, so the sexualization is a part of the vampire women thing as often. I don't recommand it if you didn't play the game when it came out in 2002.
this game is good but the last enemies will.. they some heavy bollshit but hey it is good game and have cheats and its best port for this game and I really want 4th game in the series and thanks developers for this masterpiece and we want new game ;]...
