Not quite perfect, but fun

I have played Blood three times now; first when it came out in the 90s, then a bunch of years ago with the first GOG release, and now I'm halfway through the new version. As many have mentioned, Blood is a fun game. But this version, with the KEX engine, is a very different beast to the original Build, um, build. And not in a good way. There are the problems that have been mentioned before; the cultists are freakishly accurate at any range, the butchers are somewhat flame retardant (although two flares will take care of them most of the time), and you can stand in a lit fireplace with no damage, but there are some issues are are just a pain in the bahookie... I'm currently on map 4:5, so about halfway through this release. On two occasions so far there have been bugs that have stopped me progressing, and requiring a noclip cheat code to finish the level. Not the end of the world, but did no one at Nightdive actually play through the game? I've not seen any issues with crashes as mentioned by others, and it's still a fun game. However, I support the earlier call to make the original Blood available again for people who would like to play the pure version.

It's not perfect(yet)...but not bad

I've played nblood, bloodgdx and of course the Dosbox versions and this version has the smoothest mouse control...no input lag or acceleration. So far I've this version for 10 or so hours on 2 computers without crashing,so it's definitely not broken to me

Probably the greatest FPS ever made.

The level design, the gore, the monsters, the weapons, the break-neck pace... glorious. Perfect for horror fans - endless references to films like Evil Dead, The Shining and Friday the 13th. Drenched in occult and satanic themes. Now in HD, with all the extra levels. Absolutely perfect in every way.

Love it

I wasn't even around when this first came out. This is the first old school FPS I've thoroughly played. I dislike most standard FPS games, but this one really stands out for its unique atmosphere and gunplay. Certainly different from Doom and its clones. Pleasantly surprised and impressed, thumbs up!

A solid gem

I purchased Blood on sale because I remembered a childhood friend had the game on their computer I loved it and it's aesthetic back in the day. I have to admit I was initially a little disappointed at the pacing of combat in the early stages and I got a little nauseous from how the game handles depth perception as you move around and look up or down - I even considered cancelling my purhcase within the first few hours of gameplay, even though I'd only spent a few euros on it. But boy, am I glad I stayed. Once I got into the groove of the game I grew to love it one more. The weapons, the enemies, the level design - it all oozes such quality and charm that I feel compelled to press on. The little details and references tell you how much the devs loved their game, and it's so much fun to be taken on their journey through the different maps.
