There's a little game in this bug!!!

After going crazy to find a way to bring this game to 60 FPS, I play a couple of hours, found a certain point to closa a level (moving trough a jungle of bug) and guess what? A bug/glitch/whatever blocks me behind a wall killing me everytime I try to move out. The game is quite fun per se, but not to the point of play levels over and over hoping that some bug doesn't ruin everything. Need fixing or ins't worth the price.

Unimaginative

I saw a cheap price for Blood II and thought I might as well buy, since it was one of those games from my teenage years that stuck in my head. I didn't manage to get through the replay however and I'm now wishing I had just watched a walkthrough on Youtube. There is just nothing to DO in Blood II. The first Blood, while still basically a shoot-em-up has a narrative and is simply structured - You have to rescue your three fellow cult members from three bosses and then proceed to kill the big boss and there are very minor switch based puzzles in each level (but mostly it's about the killing). Just off the top of my head though, I can vividly list the types of levels you play through in Blood 1, each distinct with fun identities; a moving train, a funfair, a snowy landscape with hotel, a spider's lair, a hellscape... Blood II has none of this. It is an exceptionally ugly game mostly set in a very basic, grey dystopian city and it just feels like no imagination went into elevating it from it's basic starting point. All you have to do is kill everything in your path and find a way out of the level, usually by blowing a whole in some wall. The monsters are also mindlessly repetitive and the AI (even for the time) is a little embarrassing. It just feels like it was all very rushed. Definitely not worth the revisit for me. It did however, work fine on my Windows 10. It is buggy in the sense that enemies spawn too late on occasion and their bodies remain floating in the air, but it did run ok with fine graphics.

fun

Yes its not the original but its fun. It doesn't take itself serious and the story is silly but its fun. People need to stop overthinking this. Redneck rampage, Postal and Duke are just as pointless but many play those

Not a bad game at all.

I remember playing Blood 2 back in 2002 (so it's been more than a decade then) for a few levels and do take note that I haven't played the original ever until I bought both the 1st and 2nd game from GOG.com recently. Now that I've got Blood 2 again + the expansion, I've enjoyed playing the game again from start to finish. The level of the game may not be from the likes of HALF-LIFE / UNREAL by the time the game was released, but this game is good to kill a couple of hour's time. The only things that warrant this game a 3/5 stars are the frequent crashes whenever I select a higher resolution, especially the expansion whenever I get to play Gabriella, the game crashes before the cutscene itself and the lack of a proper ending. The only thing that prevents most crashes is to set compatibility to Windows 95/98, running the game as administrator and disabling visual themes and desktop composition. The good: + Full 3D levels compared to the 1st game + More weapons (albeit some are gimmicky) The bad: - Frequent crashes - Missing humor from the 1st game - Less than 10 levels for the NIGHTMARE LEVELS

Worth a go if you enjoyed the original.

Bottom line: It's not as good as the original but still worth a go if you enjoyed the dark humor one liners and horror movie references from the first one. However, due to the very unbalanced difficulty levels I recommend playing on the 'Genocide' (Easy) setting. It is a little too easy to begin with, but the normal or hard modes are just not fun to play due to endless 'bullet sponge' enemies as you progress later in the game. Fair warning.
