Wolfensteins Alien Brother

Fantastic game! Gory, strange, futuristic shooter. It has everything you want in a oldschool 3D shooter. I love searching for the keycards in all the odd places. The hidden rooms and dangerous aliens you fight. If Wolfensteins the father of shooters, blake stone is the father of sci-fi shooters.

A step back in time

This game was great, even though it was presented as a carbon copy of Wolfenstein 3D, it had it's own improvements that can't be overlooked or negated. There was much more fluidity in this game than in Wolfenstein 3D, and even better, you could backtrack in the game! Sadly, there was one problem this game faced upon release: Doom was less than 2 weeks away from official release. It's an often forgotten gem, but Jam Software did the best job they could inproducing this masterpiece! Besides, for six episodes of sixty levels total of wasting aliens and challenging Dr. Pyrus Goldfire to save the world, you really can't go wrong! Buy this game!

Between a Stone and a Hard Place

Video review: https://youtu.be/kQuky3hjvYs You may have heard of Doom clones but there was a small pocket of time between Wolfenstein 3D and DOOM's release where Wolfenstein clones should have existed and really didn't, except for the Blake Stone series. The first game Aliens of Gold released a week before Doom and was totally overwhelmed by that title's popularity. Its sequel Planet Strike in 1994 did little to change that. It is charming looking and feeling though, and the presence of NPCS and backtracking for what was perhaps the first time was pretty cool.

Runs perfectly with BstoneEven in linux.

Before that lying DINO POS Joseph LIEberman and his phony-balogna congressional LIES led to the official rating system, this was the first game I played that had a content warning. My parents wouldn't let us play Wolfenstein 3D, but had no problems with the gore here. Funny, innit? Anyway, if you're a compulsory wall-humper who strafes along every wall mashing the interact button to find every hidden area, Blake Stone will either be immensely satisfying, or frustrating and annoying. It's worse than the Aardwolf maze sometimes.

Just Wolfenstein +, but not bad.

Despite my initial impressions from seeing this game occasionally played by my father, Blake Stone: Aliens of Gold is simply another first-person shooter in the vein of Wolfenstein 3D - 90 degree walls, no height differentials, hidden pushwalls everywhere. There's a limited selection of weapons, but the addition of an explosive weapon is a nice choice. There are enemies of course - human, robotic, mutated - but the concept of friendly fire's introduced by informants, killing them hurts your score. And, finally, the game's separated into episodes, ten levels to each. It's Wolfenstein 3D goodness all over again, with a futuristic paintjob, and that's not necessarily a bad thing.
