Uncompletable

The game is interesting enough. Twin stick shooter is how I'd describe its genre - though as others have mentioned, the field of view is very small and there's no way to zoom out. It was entertaining enough while it lasted. But no matter what I might say about the gameplay or the premise, there are several game-killing bugs. Others had an issue with a vital key card not existing. My problem was later on, where you need to use the drone to fly inside a vent. Swap to the drone and you can't control it. You can swap back, but the drone won't move. Leave the area and the drone flies fine. Go back in and it's stationary and disabled. And that's it. You're stuck. No more progression. It's like an old shareware game, where the first episode was free and served as a demo to entice you to buy the full game. Except that in this case, I bought the full game and only got the first part. I know I'm not the only one to have this problem. A quick web search found someone in Valveland who had this issue too. But it was ignored. So that's my advice to potential buyers: ignore this game in return. Spend your money on something that's not broken.

Not completely irredeemable, but bad

I want to like Blackwind. Perhaps simply by the fact that there's not enough top-down action mech games, perhaps because there seems to be sincere effort put into it. But no matter how hard I want to like it, I can't. The game is very barebones, tries to do many things but does absolutely nothing in a remarkable or even above-average way, it has many issues, flaws and game-breaking bugs, and the general lack of polish, testing, etc., is incredibly apparent. Beyond that, the underlying ideas and systems for the game, which can't be easily addressed with post-release bugfixes and patches, are generally weak and underdeveloped or too safe/cliche - the story, for example, is cookie-cutter and mind-numbing, to the point where I had a podcast on in the background and started to not bother pausing it during cutscenes. Gameplay seems alright at first, if a bit anemic and brainless, but as it goes on and on it simply becomes too repetitive and shallow, and the game's attempts at spicing it up by introducing new enemies or mechanics don't do enough to freshen things up, nor make combat any more challenging. Other than stomping aliens and such, the game consists of trudging along backtracking through the same areas several times or doing some janky puzzle platforming - again, the game's trying to do a lot of things but doesn't do any well enough. Visually, the game feels like someone slapped a generic sci-fi asset pack down into UE4's default rendering pipeline and didn't have time to do anything beyond just implementing it and building the levels: beyond a handful of models and textures, everything looks generic, ready-made and devoid of its own style, atmosphere, mood, anything visually distinguishing. The camera also feels like a premade thing, or something very poorly slapped together through blueprints to 'get the job done' and nothing else. There's stuff that shows effort, like the executions, but even that is marred by poor implementation and becomes repetitive.

Suitable for a younger generation

Simplistic, generic plot, repetitive action with a few puzzles in between. The combat is clunky at times and the camera angles are the main villain in this game. Getting through this was fun in the beginning but increasingly became a chore as the game progressed. It's not a complete disaster but is definitely found wanting. Perhaps this appeals to someone of a younger age. It's very colorful and glowy at least.

Uninstalled and refunded

Playing area too small. Couldn't get missles to fire. Got into research facility - door locked. No key. No progression. Uninstalled. Refund requested. This is either bugged or a not a shooter/looter rpg. Wasn't interested enough to waste any more time figuring it out.
