Had a bug, couldn't continue.
Couldn't go on with the story, couldn't roll back to a previous savegame.

Like the story, but not the gameplay
Like a good detective game and with the noir style, it's even better. It's a quirky story which comes along at a decent pace, with some nice twists and turns. Visually it's pretty nice and I've got nothing to complain about there. The controls are sadly only keyboard (and I guess controller), and the camera seldom points to where you wan't it to. Especially irritating when trying to find all points of interest to interact with. Then thing that I really hate about the game is those timed sequences. Irritating to be having to do them all over if you manage to push the wrong key or miss the timing of it. Also the spacebar hammering is no fun at all... All in all a decent game which for me is let down by the gameplay part. Could have been great as a point and click game.

Thrilling story and good synchronisation
After 10 hours I had done it. Hours of excitement and surprising turns lay behind me. Blacksad is a guy with rough edges. The characters are credible and have depth. The music is jazz-heavy with lots of saxophone sounds - an experience. I love the German dubbing. The actors really put in a lot of effort. The game mechanics are fine. I would have liked a little more responsiveness when moving the character. Blacksad also likes to get stuck on objects. I really enjoyed the quick time events. But I like this kind of game mechanics as well, it's not everybody's cup of tea. I really liked the graphics. There is an atmospheric depth-of-field effect. Overall I can only recommend the game to point-and-click adventure fans.

Nice game, good story. Some issues.
Story is nice. Nothing about saving the world, just a private investigator trying to solve a case. A few nice ladies, each with their own sad story and endings. Most people being corrupt in one way or another, especially the ones who made it to anything. Much like the real world then. The controls are quite difficult. Often the items and hotspots are hard to find and require very specific positioning for the player to highlight them. Much of the time large parts of the area are hidden as you cannot pan the 3D camera as you like. I found the graphics to be fine, even the animal characters felt fine although initially I thought they were a bit silly. Perhaps because they managed to fit well in the story. Music and sound also fit well into the game. My computer has a decent amount of processing power and I played at low resolution so no problems with resoures in that sense. Sometimes loading takes time, and a few times the screen just went black and I had to exit and restart the game. Given the issue of impossible to skip animations and cutscenes, some of which are quite long, it got somewhat annoying. Fix the unskippable scenes, give better control over the characters and views, some easier ways to reload at different points, and some more freedom to roam the city. Keep the good story and the noir feeling. That would be a great sequel for me.

Wonky gameplay, SUPERB STORY!
This has been one of the best video game narrative experiences that I have had this year -- along with "Demonicon" And like that game, you will only stay for the story because the gameplay is lacking. Not horrible, but the game did bug out up on me -- once or twice. The controls (such as they are) just refused to respond and I had to restart the game. And they are only really just QTEs and pixel hunting. Not riveting gameplay to be honest However, the narrative is tense and riveting. I am glad that I stuck through it because the story did not disappoint! I was so into this story and I love the character of John Blacksad. I read the first story from the comics before I started this game and I so glad that I did since there were some references to that comic. So I had a deeper insight into Blacksad and it drew me more into the story. It is not necessary to do that but I am glad that I did. I hope to see another game with this character because I enjoyed every minute of this game's story . Highly recommended. In the meanwhile, I think I will read more of the Blacksad comics!
