uninteresting and frustrating
Let me start by saying that "BG successor" is truly thrown lightly these days. This is definitely not a BG successor nor close to it. I've just finished the game and only because I'm stubborn like that. To be frank, I was bored nearly the entire time. The game failed to make me interested in the main story or that of any of the characters- including companions. One of the biggest sins of Black Geyser is loading time- it made me play a mobile game on the side, just so I wouldn't get bored out of my mind. I honestly reduced travelling and switching locations to a minimum just so I didn't have to wait for the damn game to load again, that's how annoying it was. There's also barely any role playing in this supposedly role playing game. You can easily be a saint, because it costs you nothing, but except for the world greed level, the reputation system seems to have no repercussions. Am I known after going back and forth so many times and helping literally every person with a name? Nope. And the relationships with companions? A few shallow conversations, some very basic quests, a possibility of "romance" (that part made me laugh, a whole romance done in one conversation) and that's it. Easily forgettable. Should I care about them? I haven't been given any reason to. Should I care for the world at least? There's some interesting lore, sure, but presented in a way I mostly don't care for. "Show, don't tell", right? Well, not here. The way I see it, if a game fails to engage me emotionally, it's not a good game. Other reviewers mentioned other flaws and they're all true (esp. top review by user desale), but I described what was the worst aspects for me personally. I liked crafting powders though, they're pretty. I had to make physical notes because the system isn't very good, but I didn't mind that, at least I cared about something :) Also- some locations are very pretty, I mean the maps, like forests or meadows. Character design though...

Nostalgia and great potencial but...
I enjoy the good old isometric party based games. this one delivers the old feel of the classics but add nothing new and do not take risks. It is a game from the 2000s with the good and the bad from it. Good. Exploration Party based, Character creation: Different classes abilities and spells Real-time combat (not much of those are made today) Bad Different classes but spellcasters are subpar comparing to martial classes in anything besides healing Skills are not really necessary nor that common and you can go without Brewing and crafting is not really worth the time and effort to improve and collect all the ingredients and formulas. Anything is mostly useless from mid-to-endgame Multiclass characters need double xp to level up so its useless for caster classes The setting, world and characters are a little cliche-y , you have the tropes you already read a thousand times. No risks, no novel approach... There are very few roleplay decisions, 90% of the quests have only one way to solve them ( Usually is kill something or fetch something and get it back to the questguiver), almost all quests are fetch and carry Greed mechanics are there ,but they do not have real gameplay consequences Notoriously bad Terrible loading times. I have a mid-tier pc but I can runn AAA games with no problem, but this one gets you 1 minute to load a "random map encounter"

Has potential but aggravating
-You dont get a traps detected message until youre .2 seconds from stepping on it -party member selection is awful. I keep click and dragging around him and it doesnt register unless its done just so -The UI is... quite dog shit. I can barely see what the symbols are. You have to cycle through these F icons to even find your party members abilities. I found the warrior's command ability quite by accident. I probably couldve gone the whole game and not known where it was. It also doesnt save your current selection, meaning if your caster's spells were selected, they wont be when you reselect him, necessitating another switch and fiddling between "ok the magic staff isnt my spells, the magic book is" -Spells are painfully short range and have a long cast time even for the weakest ones. By the time you finish the enemy is already in your face. And good luck trying to get your warriors to actually move to a choke point by the time you've selected them for the third time and theyve gone the opposite direction you wanted. -no cantrips. One of the few good modern additions to casters were small, weak mini spells they could cast as an auto attack instead of fking around with slings and darts. So its strange that its not present here. -Story,seems decent and serviceable so far. Just keep in mind like BG1-2, this is a directed story. You will be going where you're told -Companions. The one dwarf is alright. The other 2 ive found are meh. Honestly i hate being obliged to bring along a thief in every F game ever just because of locks and traps. Though since i run across them anyway since its such a short alert time i might as well leave him behind,
