Beyond Two Souls is a mixed game, with many elements of the story amounting to binary choices, some aspects of the narrative being poorly fleshed out and gameplay regularly amounting to choosing whether to be terrible or not. At the same time though, there are enough satisfying moments that provoke empathy for Paige's character and moral quandary to intrigue and entertain those drawn to coming of age stories and tales of the supernatural.

Beyond: Two Souls would've fared a lot better if it had even more visual detail, other control options and extra content to make it more like a director's cut. As it stands, though, it's a great conversion of a pretty good Quantic Dream development, mind its storytelling issues and quick-time event gameplay.

Great game, Horrible controls

The game is great, love it. But the control is poor , keyboard mouse and controls, nothing made it better. It's better on the PS. I see why it's at a reasonable price.

Enjoyable interactive movie

I played Detroit: Become Human on PS4 a few years ago and loved it, then bought Heavy Rain and was considerably less impressed. The negative reviews for Beyond: Two Souls made me hesitate before buying it, even at a bargain price, but it turned out to be a lot of fun. Yes, the controls are a bit fiddly at times (though with an Xbox controller it really wasn't too bad), and yes, it's more of an interactive movie than a traditional game. But it's involving, and the non-linear narrative works really well. The plot gets a bit daft at times, but I thoroughly enjoyed my 10+ hours with the game. For the £3-something I paid, it was a great buy.

So good!

I got to experience the game for the first time and I have to say: I'm thrilled! A great story. Superb actors and appealing visuals despite the age. I'm glad I played the game. The story really moved me.
