There are some parts of the game where I wanted to throw it out of the window because it was so hard to get pass the guards, but overall its a really good game and I recommend it to every one who likes good stories.
I'm surprised I hadn't heard of this game previously and I am happy to say that I was pleasantly surprised at how truly good this game is. The atmosphere is very immersive, and the sound track is top-notch. The gameplay is perhaps a little bit on the easy side of things. The way the game handles deaths means that you won't be grinding your teeth as you restart an entire level for the umpteenth time, as it often restarts you just prior to where you bit the bullet. I did have a few issues with the camera screwing things up, and this game did run a little slow on my laptop (no graphics card) but overall I give this game a full 5 stars.
If you like good atmosphere, story-telling, and Orwellian settings... play this game. It's sort of a platformer with stealth/action encounters, and personally, the gameplay could have been better.... but it was AWESOME nonetheless. :D As for the story and environment... you can DEFINITELY tell they reached a deadline, since the game is INCREDIBLY detailed, and then all of a sudden you're spending huge chunks of time on one of two main missions (which rocks, though I wish there were more missions and more in-between time), and then BLAM! you're at the ending, which only halfway makes sense.
Seriously, if this game was given another year or two to be developed, it would have been the best game EVER.
After having this game on the ps2 originally i couldn't resist buying it again on here,
Beyond good and evil in an outstanding adventure game caked in originality and fun!
I couldn't possibly recommend this game enough! the bonus of the soundtrack wallpapers AND artworks makes it more than worth the money.
I originally played BG&E on the XBOX and did not expect too much from it, but WOW what a great little game. The thing that stands out the most is the amount of polish this title has. It's evident a lot of care went into crafting each part of this game.
The graphics and sound are wonderful. This game has a lot of heart. The writing and art design makes this game something special. It's at times both emotional and genuinely funny.
The game play too is actually quite excellent, mixing light puzzles, driving, fighting, and a surprisingly effective stealth element.
The games weakest point is definitely combat. It doesn't take much skill and basically boils down to locking on to an enemy and hammering on the attack button. But everything else is borderline stellar.
This is an immensely charming title I think all should play. BG&E and Metal Arms are my to most favorite games that most people seem to have passed by. Don't be one of those people!
