Description
Betrayer is a first person action adventure game that takes you to the New World at the turn of the 17th century.

The year is 1604. You sailed from England expecting to join a struggling colony on the coast of Virginia. Instead, you find only ghosts and mysteries. What catastrophe blighted the land and drained it of color and life? Where are the settlers and tribes who lived here?

Clue by clue, you must piece together the story of what befell this doomed settlement and find a way to set things right. You will be hunted by corrupted Conquistadors and ravening shadows as you explore an expansive wilderness in order to trace the brief, tragic history of the colony and search for survivors.

  • Explore large, open environments teeming with danger and discovery. Chart your own course in search of clues and treasures.
  • Switch between two distinct worlds featuring different enemies, obstacles, and threats.
  • Wield early 17th century weaponry including muskets, bows, crossbows, and tomahawks. Upgrade your arsenal by purchasing or finding faster, deadlier, longer-ranged weapons.

immersive game!

very immersive, it really makes you feel like you're in the middle ages. Combat is fluid and easy to understand, enemy variety is perfect!

Only available on GOG

It's amazing. Outdated, but the story is amazing. This game let's you investigate several murder mysteries, similar to how Geralt does it in the Witcher series, along with the option to judge the people involved. Unlike The Witcher 3 however, this game has rather crude combat mechanics that you need to spend some time on to get used to them. Characters also aren't voiced, so there is some reading to do.

I refunded this on steam.

A long while back, I had bought this game on steam. However, I wasn't too sure about it, so I refunded. Well, I got it again here on GOG and now I regret that I did so. Its a solid game. Cool premise, nice visuals. The gameplay is also fun, but not too challenging.

Neat, not compelling

It's okay. All of the story is given through text and there are more than a few threads. Not much reason to care about what's going on. Quests are almost worth nothing. If it were linear I think I'd enjoy it more. Arrows should not cost 5 currency. Enemies do significant damage and the healing item is really weak. Weirdly quiet. Maybe that's the point... This should've been an itch io game, honestly.
