Huge fan to this day...

I enjoyed this game so much that I went out and bought the book Magician by Raymond Feist and it remains one of my all time favorite books. Playing the game again after having read everything Mr. Feist had written up to that point made me enjoy it even more. While I must admit the character portraits of cast members wearing really bad wigs didn't fit my idea of what the characters looked like it was the idea of traveling in Midkemia that really hit the spot. Ashen-Shugar still ranks as one of my all time favorite fantasy bad asses!

Unique story

If you can tolerate the graphics, this one has very deep story and interesting game mechanics.

Excellent title

One of the best RPG's out there, excellent story-telling, really a novel in game form. I wish other games today would use this approach to plot and story-telling. countersweet, while you are right and this game is a freeware, getting it to run properly with music and sound is a hard chore. Having everything ready with a click of a button, running as stable as it is, deserves the measly 5 bucks.

YES! Finally!

I used to love this game, and despite the old-fashioned graphics I'm gonna spend the night replaying this absolute classic. Definately worth it!

Hasnt aged well

Compared to other RPG's of the era (baldurs gate for ex.) BaK hasnt aged well. I just couldnt get into the first person gameplay or the fact that you have to rest so much and constantly go back to town for supplies after just a few fights. Its definatly a hard core game. I'm not lying, its pretty hard at first and I'm used to games giving you some leeway early on then getting harder as you get up in levels but this game cuts all the crap and sends you head first into some shit. I really wanted to like it though, playing it mutliple times but the gameplay isnt my style. I'm more of a baldurs gate type of rpg fan. I like to get xp and distribute it amongst skills but this doenst do that. It seems like you level up whenever the game thinks you've won the right amount of fights. I think BaK fared better in the early 90's when the market didnt have as many rpg's as it does now.
