This game turned out to be great!
Pros:
+Good music
+Good story
+Items aren't too hard to find, unlike some other point & click adventures.
+Lots of voice options
Cons:
-The voice acting for some of these characters are sort of ridiculous. I can't seem to identify an accent for these people in this city. Some sound Irish, Dutch, Hispanic etc. Lol
-The puzzles are rather difficult at times. I definitely needed to use an online walkthrough a few times, but maybe that's just me.
You like sci-fi, retro gaming and adventure games? Then what are you waiting for?
Yes there are probably better games out there but don't get me wrong - this game is sure to satisfy to the fullest any adventuring desires you might have.
A great old school point and click game :D
Pros:
Good story
Simple gameplay
funny and great dialogue
The founding father of the broken sword series
Background designs are awesome
and that epic black outfit!!! XD
Overall just an absolute classic game and all point and click fans have to play.
I didn't play "Beneath a Steel Sky" until 2016, so what I'm about to say is not clouded by nostalgia.
This is a good game. It's fairly short and it's free. You should play it.
BASS (as I'm going to call it) is an old-skool adventure game but one that shows the best of the genre. Adventure games were always about two things - discovery, and puzzles. Some games were better at one than the other. This is a rare beast that gets both. The world is interesting, well crafted and folded out to you piece by piece to keep you wanting to see what's around the corner. The puzzles mostly avoid the bizzare "use a toothpick to win a beauty contest" kind of logic leaps common in this genre, which keeps the game moving and interactive.
Still, there were one or two spots I used a walkthrough. Take my advice and do the same, this game is best when it keeps moving.
If this were a moden game, people would complain about the (mostly) easy puzzles making it too short (it's about 7-8 hours). Personally I think that is always a stupid criticism; no-one recommends The Postman over Toy Story because only one "gives you your money's worth".
But I digress - this game is free. It not only holds up today, but it's a good example of a now-rare genre.
Totally worth your time.
I FINALLY got down to playing this game after it gathered dust in my library. It is amazing. The characters are well written, the dialog is interesting and funny, and the art work is simply sublime. This puzzle adventure has a neat story line (and some rather difficult puzzle) that will have you hooked till the end.
