You are Sunita - a woman living with early onset dementia. As you wander from room to room, you discover mysterious objects, each holding a fleeting, fragmented memory. Examine faded postcards, scribbled notes, photographs, and more to uncover Sunita’s past, piece together her life-story, and understand her present.
Before I Forget is a story-rich, first-person exploration game from 3-Fold Games. Delicate, moving, and atmospheric, it examines the emotional impact of dementia.
“We wanted to have some aspects that indicated Sunita’s Indian heritage apart from her name, and I actually did this piece of art in a little bit of software that came on my Galaxy phone, [...] so this is my homage, my paltry homage - to a really fantastic Indian - female Indian - painter [...] called Amrita Sher-Gil.”

Before I Forget is a strong, concise story tracing a woman suffering from dementia as she slowly uncovers pieces of herself as well as the story framed within this mental health journey. It doesn't waste players' time with a run-time that doesn't overstay its welcome, helped by a protagonist that doesn't divulge too much information when she speaks.

An emotional adventure
Highly recommend this game. It is an emotional journey that teaches you about the symptoms of dementia. Intriguing as it is designed as a mystery to be solved, yet does not trivialise the suffering of victims, and gives you a sense of the trauma and frustration involved. Well-designed in terms of both gameplay and audio/visuals, and the story is compelling, rewarding you with moments of sadness, joy, terror, confusion, and purpose. As an extra feature, you can choose to listen to audio commentary by the creators, which I also enjoyed very much.

Meu avô tem uma condição semelhante à protagonista. É difícil saber o que se passa na cabeça das pessoas que têm isso. Esse jogo me proporcionou uma experiência de interpretação desse papel, em primeira pessoa. Chorei.
