New York, more like a beast than a city. Explore it’s darkest corners and uncover its secrets as Jack Kelly, a former detective who has been framed for a murder. Degraded and forgotten by old pals, it’s your last chance to find the truth behind this whole terrible mess. The thing is, your new boss treats you like shit, your wife is a money sucking spawn from hell and the local mafia wants your head on a plate. I guess you could say, that things are complicated down here, in the middle of Brooklyn. Oh, and don't forget about writing tickets, reprimanding pedestrians & such.
You're a beat cop after all.
Nonlinear story with multiple endings - Someone framed you and no one gives a rat’s ass about this but you. Turn every stone in this city and find out who did that. The further you investigate the more missing puzzles you’ll find, but be careful. Some things should never be brought to daylight.
The essence of 80’s cop shows - Have you ever dreamed of being one of the heroes of cop movies? Of course you did, like we all. Now you have a chance. Be sexier than Sonny Crocket and tougher than Dirty Harry. And if witty comebacks won’t work, you can always do some old school ass kicking. It’s 80’s after all!
The humour that your mom wouldn’t approve - Be sarcastic. Be gloom. Be whatever you want. There are thousands of things in this world you can laugh at, and even more you shouldn’t, but who cares. It’s jungle out there baby, and sometimes you just need something to release the stress.
I am a fan of Gangsters PC game and Gangsters 2 PC game. I also have played Mob Rule many times. I also am a fan of Omerta. This game is really cool it kind of reminds me of that realistic Cop Game released by GOG not too long ago. I enjoyed the action, I felt like I was part of a movie. There is a lot of role playing. It' a cool , crime adventure story. You can be corrupt cop andbeat up the punks. You can be an honest cop and upset the Mafia, the choice is yours, have fun !!
This feels like what would happen if someone did some cool pixel art and then tried to shoehorn a game in around it. The story is dull, and all the gameplay mechanics seem like an afterthought.
Throughout the whole game, it felt like it did not want to be played. If you were to make a slight mistake, you lose a level and start again (fortunately, you repeat the day, so that's great). It was not even challenging - it just became annoying and happened at least a few times. I was not sure why the game was trying to take itself so seriously at times.
There were a bunch of side quests but I had no idea how to continue / finish them. If you like detective games, this one may be for you because I could not give a damn about the side quests.
Speaking of the story - it was mediocre at best (in general though, I could not be bothered by it). Same goes for music.
I managed to reach day 21 but apparently I screwed something up with mafia and they just would not let me go past the other side of the beat (street), and I would not even know which day I would need to start to not run into that issue. I decided to give up because I just cannot be bothered to try again and would rather do something else with my time.
The time was very limited and I just was not enjoying rushing from corner A to corner B to do the daily tasks + extras - 'cause if you don't, you won't have enough money left to pay up the alimony.
So yeah, there were a few things about the game that put me off and it was also buggy (every 4th / 5th mission the AI would just bug, e.g. not respond to a command).
If you're a fan of pixelated games and do not mind rushing here and there to complete the tasks, then this could be a game for you!
In short, the game is interesting, good vibe and interesting dialogue.
Buuuuut.... On day nine a event takes place that can end the game instantly and replaying that day over and over until the event takes place again is really tedious. Make it available to quick save or instant retry and it will get more stars from a cassual gamer like me.
As an old fart from the 80s, I can tell this game only has good puns referring to the 80s (among others, I liked the buzzers listing various movie characters names from the 80s, indeed), but in my opinion, there's not much more to it.
The game does not guide you through its branching, so the chances of getting a rather "uneventful" ending are significantly high. Conceptually speaking I might even like this approach, but the very game mechanics (consisting of seeeeeveral mouse clicks) makes replaying it very unlikely.
As pointed out by other fellow reviewers: this is NOT a cop simulator.
It's a clicker with some witty puns/nonsense here and there.
I give it a 3/5 because I could tell it's a work of love, and a (sadly) missed opportunity.
