Discover the grim dark universes of Warhammer where there is only war. From Warhammer 40,000 to Warhammer Fantasy and more - discover it all on GOG Warhammer Franchise page.

Battlefleet Gothic: Armada is the RTS videogame adaptation of Games Workshop’s classic tabletop game, pitting the Chaos, Imperium, Eldar, and Orks against each other in visceral space-battles.

Developed with Unreal Engine 4, Battlefleet Gothic: Armada offers deep management of every ship composing the player’s fleet, both during and between battles. From the fastest frigates to the gigantic, miles-long battleships, the player will customize all aspects of his ships: weaponry, defense and support sub-systems, but also crew, captains, and more... each customization affecting the very performances of the ship and the special abilities available during battle. From battle to battle, the admirals and crew of surviving ships will gain experience and promotions, improving the battle-readiness of the ships for future, bigger and more dangerous battles.

Additionally an extensive multiplayer mode with persistent fleets where up to 4 players can battle simultaneously, Battlefleet Gothic: Armada also features a big story campaign, taking place during the 12th Black Crusade and putting players in the middle of the Gothic War that raged between the Imperium and Abaddon the Despoiler. Players will be at the centre of every fight, commanding fleets of gigantic ships as the Chaos unleash a sequential chain of surprise attacks on Imperium worlds – the start of 20 years of warring in the sector.

  • An expansive single-player campaign across the Gothic sector.
  • Four factions to command, each one with its own strengths and skills.
  • Tactical PVP multiplayer offering infinite replayability.
  • A huge array of authentically recreated Battlefleet Gothic ships.
  • A real-time strategy experience retaining many of the tactical Battlefleet Gothic elements.
  • A plethora of lore-abiding skills to fill the player’s arsenal.
  • Upgrade and apply skills at port Maw

Cross-platform multiplayer is supported.

Chess in space

Battlefleet Gothic Armada can be a fun game, as long as you know what you’re getting yourself into. The videogame emulates the tabletop game it is based on, meaning that the battles take place on a 2D plane, similar to a chess board. The “Armada” found in the title’s name is misleading, as you only get to bring around 5 or 6 ships to a battle. Although there are ways of hiding your ships during a fight, the A.I. always knows where you are. While playing the singleplayer campaign, avoid Convoy missions. My personal favorite mission types were Cruiser Clash and Assassination. (Tip: you can cheese the game by saving before ending your turn, then reloading that save till your favorite mission types appear the next day) System requirements are quite high for such a simplistic game. Even on a powerful PC, expect long loading times. Get this game for the singleplayer campaign, since multiplayer has moved on to Battlefleet Gothic Armada 2.

2 is the big game but this is worth it

As I Say this is no AAA, but does its job and ii is a good RTS in space, and does set an excellent arc fort the second game to nail it. The second game is the full blown campaign, but this first one is worth it in its own. It's not deep, neither large as the second, but it is fun and interesting. At this high discount price it is totally worth it. I own it here and on Steam and can't understand its low rating. It is well worth it, despite 2nd being the full game IMO. Spire story and Abbadon's fate are un-canonically excellently depicted here. Cutscenes and voices are top notch too, despite being scarce. .

Be prepared to refund it

I regret buying this game even though it looks amazing and fun on YouTube. After using every fix here at GOG and on discussion boards and videos, nothing allows it to fully launch more than 1 time out of every half dozen or more attempts. It's now way past the refund window. Very disappointing. So all I can suggest is to install it as soon as possible after purchase and apply for a refund within the limit should you have issues.

Solid Space RTS

I enjoyed playing this game. It does a good job capturing the feel of holding back the tide. There are sector maps where your various enemies launch attacks, and you can only address a limited number of those a turn. If you lose all 50 planets, you lose the game. I think any strategy game that requires you to write off territories to protect ones that you feel are more important is off to a good start. You can also lose missions without losing the entire game, so failure is more a matter of being pushed back before you can return and smack the bad guys around. My one recommendation is that you play the objective. If you fixate on trying to destroy all of the enemy ships, you're going to lose -- especially on the higher difficulties. I wish the game had more mission types and that the sector maps had more strategic depth, but this was an overall fun, space ships make things go boom game.

Not well balanced!

I have to replay the missions over and over to be able to claim a victory, since the first mission. It's frustrating
