Description
Banished is a city building game where you control a group of exiled people who are restarting their lives in the wilderness. They have only the clothes on their backs and a cart filled with supplies from their homeland.

The townspeople work, build, get older, have children, and eventually die. Keeping them healthy, happy, and fed are essential to making a successful town grow. Any structure can be built at any time, provided that your people have collected the resources to do so.

There are many occupations that the people can perform from farming, hunting, and blacksmithing, to fishing, teaching, and healing. You can choose to replant forests, mine for iron, and quarry for rock, and more!
  • Build a city with any layout you want with almost no restriction on when, what, and where you build.
  • Keep the population happy and healthy by providing them with food and warm shelter.
  • Watch the town grow as you assign 20 different jobs to build buildings, grow food, craft tools and clothing, and more!

Gamebreaking Bugs, avoid!

This could be the best city builder out there, you can get fairly easy into the game and it is really fun, unfortunately there are some bugs with the unit AI that kill the game. In a nutshell, your workers stop working and just idle around a meeting place. If you then save and load your game, they will go for one "tour" then start idling again, confirming that this is indeed a bug. This is an unfinished product. Avoid until it's fixed, at which point I would rate it five stars.

Too simplistic GUI

Bought this game but returned after two hours for a refund because it was very hard for me. Tried to learn how to navigate efficiently, but there is barely any interface. Game is very very simplistic, installer is only 122 MB. I prefer RTS or turn based games with extensive GUI, where you can click anything and have some options, which are standard nowadays.

How NOT to make a city builder

I had very high hopes for this game. And I'm utterly disappointed. This is the first game I bough on GoG that I requested a refund for. Tried two gameplays on Medium, twice everybody died before Year 4. There's always not enough food, regardless of how many people you assign to foodmaking. And if you almost manage to feed everyone, they die of cold, because you run out of wood, for there is no one left to cut the trees down, as everyone is farming, fishing etc. Why can't people hunt/fish/gather berries without having to build them an overly expensive building? Why can't I plant the onions the gatherer found? Why on Earth can't I find any seeds for edible stuff in the wild? To say this game's designed is extremely flawed would be an understatement. Plus it has no story mode, no missions, no nothing. Just the excrutiating 'try and fail only to fail again' poor excuse for gameplay.

this is not a game...

You basically spend a few failed starts and some time figuring out the simple rules of the "game". a) Houses are for growth only. Do NOT match the number of families with houses. b) Gatherer huts are how you feed everyone. Everything else is gravy. There is literally no way to lose once you figure that out. Start with a Boarding House(to slow growth) and a Gatherers Hut and that's it. You than spend all your time on 10x speed just passing time so you can grow your town. Very slowly. Feel totally let down that gog would actually sell this. They should have a toddler rating on this..
