Description
Banished is a city building game where you control a group of exiled people who are restarting their lives in the wilderness. They have only the clothes on their backs and a cart filled with supplies from their homeland.

The townspeople work, build, get older, have children, and eventually die. Keeping them healthy, happy, and fed are essential to making a successful town grow. Any structure can be built at any time, provided that your people have collected the resources to do so.

There are many occupations that the people can perform from farming, hunting, and blacksmithing, to fishing, teaching, and healing. You can choose to replant forests, mine for iron, and quarry for rock, and more!
  • Build a city with any layout you want with almost no restriction on when, what, and where you build.
  • Keep the population happy and healthy by providing them with food and warm shelter.
  • Watch the town grow as you assign 20 different jobs to build buildings, grow food, craft tools and clothing, and more!

My Favorite Real-time Survival Sim

This refreshingly fun and difficult game is about you, as the leader of a Banished population of villagers, trying to survive and grow your community. You are in control and in charge, and ultimately responsible for every villager who lives and dies under your leadership. Some people call it a building sim, but it's really not. Yes you do build things as part of keeping your fledgling group alive, but the entire point of the game is to grow your population and have a healthy and thriving community. This is immensely more difficult than you think it would be. The pace of the game is slow and steady, though there is a fast forward button to help pass the time up to 1x/5x/10x faster on occasion. Partly due to the pace, I find myself coming back to this game every time I burn out on something else, as I find the graphics and gameplay in this game to be very relaxing. A few tips: You've heard the term Population Center? This term is very important here, as the health and growth potential of your population depends on being within a certain respectable distance of the Town Market in order for people to get access to vital materials such as food and firewood. you must learn to manage the distance factor in order to thrive. Don't queue up too many things to build at once. Make sure not to build across rivers until you have built a bridge, otherwise your workers may starve to death while literally going around the world to get around a river or mountain. Remember, if (when) people start dying because they have no food in their homes, or freezing to death because they have no warm clothes, that's not an AI glitch. That's all on you. Keep playing, you will learn. Starting over is not a tedious thing in this game, it's part of the fun imo. The game is not hard to learn, there is no real curve when starting out. The real difficulty comes later when you start expanding and find you really didn't have the infrastructure to support more villagers after all.

they need water :))

the population started to grow and I built the second fishing building. strange is the fact that in a population between 10-15 there was no famine but when I built the second fishing building, famine appeared and the population started to crack :)) I ended up having only 8 people in town as fishermen ( 4 fishermen * 2 buildings) ... so the 8 produced food just for them ... and they starved to death ... and the game was over .... what? :)))) i remeber the two fishing buildings were next to each other and the barn was right next to them, just to reduce transportation time uninstalled many years ago.

Moving wallpaper

This game has officially become my "wallpaper - a Hogwarts version." Set your citizen to work and let them running for almost 18 hours while I do housework or reading. Surprisingly, even when I never reach beyond 30 citizens mark - doomed with death and starvation - this game never make me stops.

Unrealistic AF

This game is average at best. The good. It works. It offers unusual approach to sandboxes. Replayability might be high I guess. The graphic is okayish (I'd say 2010, but that does not matter much). The bad. The music is annoying, so are the sound effects. Serviceable at best, but you can always turn them off. The game rules are out of this world. People you command are stupid, can't think for themselves nor for others and you cannot tell them what to do. Folks do not learn from doing (even though they work with somebody that is educated). Children play until they turn 10. Then they either get to school (if you have one) or go to work. That's some serious BS. Uneducated worker, no matter what they do are horribly inefficient. Even when carrying stones, gathering berries/mushrooms or cutting down trees. Folks prefer to die than to look for food themselves. The ugly. You have to forget everything you know about people to enjoy this game. Years count differently for seasons and for people. Wooden houses require quite a lot of stone. 3D models of people are not good. Look from afar. Rain in the spring does not matter much. It's winter that freezes to death.Women choose hard labor equally often as men. 12 year-olds have children.

Insanely Addictive

I spent about 10 hours playing this game the other night trying to make sure I had fed all of my townsmen, only to realise I had skipped breakfast, lunch and almost dinner in the process. Good game, recommended.
