An Attempt to Ruin a Classic
Let me preface this this by saying I'm a huge Baldur's Gate fan. The series is very important to me, and i feel like most people who picked the Enhanced Edition feel the same way. This game takes all of the assets of the original and bastardizes all of the game feel and the entire world that Black Isle originally created. The writing is constantly shoving irrelevant and poorly written current political commentary into a world where you shoot fire out of your hands at ogres. Jokes about gamer gate and styled dialogue feel out of place and muddle the tone. Flat new characters and complete changes of established characters furthers the disconnect between the player and what was once an amazing setting. It pains me to say such things about my favorite series, but objectively I have to say this is one of the worst CRPGs of the last decade. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. There are many better RPGs out that offer far more in the way of a complete and well executed experience.
