GOG version not working.
I would like to give this game a good review, but I can't get past the beginning part of the game. Once I try to take over the mind flare's flying nautilus the game crashes. For some reason the game will check into the GOG Galaxy App and then the game crashes. So, 1 star due to GOG. If i tell the Galaxy apps to check \ repair the game ... nothing happens it just sits there for hours, and nothing gets done. We tried downloading the offline packages, but it would take 1/2 a day to download them all due to GOG's slow connection speed. 20 minutes for two 4gb files ... I'm on a 10gb fiber connection averaging 9gb down and 7-9gb up no idea why the game has to download for 30-50mb a sec off the GOG app and much slower on the direct download. I can download Starfield from MS in 10minutes and for most Steam games 10 -15 that are around the same size. 500- 700Mb or more a sec. One other complaint, if you have the game installed through Galaxy you cannot play the game while being logged into a 2nd computer account on the same desktop. So, if your kids wants to play the game under their profile, Galaxy will not allow the game to launch, unless you sign out of the app on the other profile. Poorly designed software.

not only dnd fans play RPGs
This review was written from the perspective of hating tabletop games but loving Baldur's Gate and Neverwinter Nights. I know there are many people like me, but our taste is overlooked. Pathfinder and Solasta were tedious and unplayable garbage to me. BG and NW were great because they were firstly designed as PC games, and secondly designed as D&D . I will only list the negatives because you probably know positives. - Tedious tabletop-like mechanics: D&D nerds push devs to add irritating and tedious features to games like this. BG 3 is not as bad as Pathfinder and Solasta, but still is an offender. Approximately 25% of the game involves tedious resting, sorting inventory, overcoming rest limitations, buffing the party, etc. Apparently, DND enjoy this. Fortunately, there are mods and convenience cheats to address this. - The RPG elements feel generic and unexciting. This is both because of modern fans obsession with balance and because 5th ed is just a boring ruleset to transfer to a PC game. I think devs did a good job but you just can only do so much. Character build choices have minimal impact. Any class is equally powerful and equally useless. You won't experience the joy of developing a powerful solo mage capable of deconstructing matter. Modding community is very active so maybe they will come up with something but in general the play is very generic. - Combat in this game is very different from BG. Most encounters are pretty much a chess match. This can be irritating because having to overstrategize every goblin encounter is not a sign of good gameplay - The camera can be frustrating, and you may wonder how a huge project could still not polish the camera. Summary: Fortunately, even though this game is designed for D&D nerds, the developers understood the need to appeal to a broader audience like myself. I recommend playing this but there are some minor flaws. Just dont expect a Baldurs gate or Neverwinter game but understand you play a whole new one
