Gather your party, and return to the Forgotten Realms in a tale of fellowship and betrayal, sacrifice and survival, and the lure of absolute power.
Mysterious abilities are awakening inside you, drawn from a Mind Flayer parasite planted in your brain. Resist, and turn darkness against itself. Or embrace corruption, and become ultimate evil.
From the creators of Divinity: Original Sin 2 comes a next-generation RPG, set in the world of Dungeons and Dragons.
Choose from a wide selection of D&D races and classes, or play as an origin character with a hand-crafted background. Adventure, loot, battle and romance as you journey through the Forgotten Realms and beyond. Play alone, and select your companions carefully, or as a party of up to four in multiplayer.
Abducted, infected, lost. You are turning into a monster, but as the corruption inside you grows, so does your power. That power may help you to survive, but there will be a price to pay, and more than any ability, the bonds of trust that you build within your party could be your greatest strength. Caught in a conflict between devils, deities, and sinister otherworldly forces, you will determine the fate of the Forgotten Realms together.
Forged with the new Divinity 4.0 engine, Baldur’s Gate 3 gives you unprecedented freedom to explore, experiment, and interact with a world that reacts to your choices. A grand, cinematic narrative brings you closer to your characters than ever before, as you venture through our biggest world yet.
The Forgotten Realms are a vast, detailed and diverse world, and there are secrets to be discovered all around you -- verticality is a vital part of exploration. Sneak, dip, shove, climb, and jump as you journey from the depths of the Underdark to the glittering rooftops of the Upper City. How you survive, and the mark you leave on the world, is up to you.
allows you to combine your forces in combat, and split your party to follow your own quests and agendas. Concoct the perfect plan together… or introduce an element of chaos when your friends least expect it.
offer a hand-crafted experience, each with their own unique traits, agenda, and outlook on the world. Their stories intersect with the entire narrative, and your choices will determine whether those stories end in redemption, salvation, domination, or many other outcomes.
based on the D&D 5e ruleset. Team-based initiative, advantage & disadvantage, and roll modifiers join combat cameras, expanded environmental interactions, and a new fluidity in combat that rewards strategy and foresight.
through your choices, and the roll of the dice. No matter who you play, or what you roll, the world and its inhabitants will react to your story.
allows you to pause the world around you at any time even outside of combat. Whether you see an opportunity for a tactical advantage before combat begins, want to pull off a heist with pin-point precision, or need to escape a fiendish trap. Split your party, prepare ambushes, sneak in the darkness -- create your own luck!
I bought it in 2020 . I have played hundreds of hours as all available races and classes. You must be interested in turn based gaming ( I am!) So far it has been exciting to watch the changes to the game through updates with new material. Now with a concrete aug 2023 release date I cant wait!
I don't know about you, but I have never played Baldur's Gate 1 or 2. I have got no investment in the franchise or nostalgia goggles on my eyes.
Having said that, the game is as good as it gets when it comes to emulating D&D 5e, while still maintaing it's own identity. The graphics are good, the system is based on 5e, which is one of the easiest to get into, especially when compared to games like Pathfinder 2e.
Story is well written, at least based on EA and I thoroughly enjoyed my time with it. Turn based gameplay may not be for everyone, but if you have never played isometric games because they looked archaic and hard to get into then it's probably one of the better games to start off with.
It explains everything and if you need any help, you can look up Jocat's: CRAP GUIDE TO DND.
Is it game of the decade? Hard to say for now. Is it possibly one of the best rpgs in recent times? Possibly. It's definitely not a game for casual players. "MY ACTIONS HAVE GOT CONSEQUENCES???"
For those who do not fear failing speech checks and rolling with them, go ahead.
If there is one annoyance I can give some validity is speech checks. Unlike Fallout New Vegas, where you succeed as long as your skill is equal or higher, here you roll for the success all the time.
There are rerolls and save quick and quick load, but if you want to pass every speech checks (Why would you do that? Failing is part of the fun in the D&D and can lead to some unexpected consequences) then chances are you will do it at least a couple of times.
Really great game. so huge for the price. like 10x the content you normally get these days really sets the bar higher. totally worth buying at full price.
Thoroughly enjoying myself playing this game. I've bounced off of previous Larian games but somehow the formula mixed with D&D just plain works. Stuffed with gorgeous locals, excellent voice acting, and enough decent writing to keep me wanting more.
As a busy parent I thought I had given up making time to play anything, but somehow the hours keep creeping up on BG3. Lots to enjoy here for CRPG players, D&D lovers, and Larian fans.
