Gather your party, and return to the Forgotten Realms in a tale of fellowship and betrayal, sacrifice and survival, and the lure of absolute power.
Mysterious abilities are awakening inside you, drawn from a Mind Flayer parasite planted in your brain. Resist, and turn darkness against itself. Or embrace corruption, and become ultimate evil.
From the creators of Divinity: Original Sin 2 comes a next-generation RPG, set in the world of Dungeons and Dragons.
Choose from a wide selection of D&D races and classes, or play as an origin character with a hand-crafted background. Adventure, loot, battle and romance as you journey through the Forgotten Realms and beyond. Play alone, and select your companions carefully, or as a party of up to four in multiplayer.
Abducted, infected, lost. You are turning into a monster, but as the corruption inside you grows, so does your power. That power may help you to survive, but there will be a price to pay, and more than any ability, the bonds of trust that you build within your party could be your greatest strength. Caught in a conflict between devils, deities, and sinister otherworldly forces, you will determine the fate of the Forgotten Realms together.
Forged with the new Divinity 4.0 engine, Baldur’s Gate 3 gives you unprecedented freedom to explore, experiment, and interact with a world that reacts to your choices. A grand, cinematic narrative brings you closer to your characters than ever before, as you venture through our biggest world yet.
The Forgotten Realms are a vast, detailed and diverse world, and there are secrets to be discovered all around you -- verticality is a vital part of exploration. Sneak, dip, shove, climb, and jump as you journey from the depths of the Underdark to the glittering rooftops of the Upper City. How you survive, and the mark you leave on the world, is up to you.
allows you to combine your forces in combat, and split your party to follow your own quests and agendas. Concoct the perfect plan together… or introduce an element of chaos when your friends least expect it.
offer a hand-crafted experience, each with their own unique traits, agenda, and outlook on the world. Their stories intersect with the entire narrative, and your choices will determine whether those stories end in redemption, salvation, domination, or many other outcomes.
based on the D&D 5e ruleset. Team-based initiative, advantage & disadvantage, and roll modifiers join combat cameras, expanded environmental interactions, and a new fluidity in combat that rewards strategy and foresight.
through your choices, and the roll of the dice. No matter who you play, or what you roll, the world and its inhabitants will react to your story.
allows you to pause the world around you at any time even outside of combat. Whether you see an opportunity for a tactical advantage before combat begins, want to pull off a heist with pin-point precision, or need to escape a fiendish trap. Split your party, prepare ambushes, sneak in the darkness -- create your own luck!
I have played many many hours BG1 and BG2 more than 15 years ago and BG3 is a worthy modern successor. Too bad it is still crashing randomly to desktop for no reason. The Larian launcher then wipes my all my settings and resets the tutorials, nope thanks, will never use the launcher ever again. Also I thought Larian would make D&D rules more approachable, but instead the game throws (harhar) everything all at once at you and overwhelms with dicey (harhar) stat mechanics. How do know which spells to choose or feats to learn? It's just so much stuff going on that at some point I just gave up and played on a whim. BUT: besides all that the game is still great, feels far more complete than other 60$ AAA budgeted titles and I hope Larian gets a hold those freakin crashes.
But I liked the game.
It's a shame that the developers didn't integrate auto-save through GOG Galaxy. To synchronise your saves, you need to have an account on the developers' website and go to the game settings and enable cross-platform. In this way, your saves can be retrieved directly from the developer's website.
I'm having fun playing this game, even though I haven't fully understood all the mechanics. I was able to defeat one boss and saved a pregnant woman, I'm happy because it was hard.
I'm glad that the game is also available on GOG
I have played around 16 hours so far. I'm enjoying myself. Yes, there is a lot of bugs and yes you can definitely feel it's early access, but it's still fun. I have however some grievances.
First of all the companions are not really likable... especially the 2 female characters are just plain unlikable and I'm beginning to think this was made on purpose... This would be fine and all if we had more companions to choose from. So the feedback is: give us a few more companions (preferably some good-natured for a change and maybe without having any GREAT AND TRAGIC MYSTERY)
Environmental AOE damage... now this... this is a reminiscent from DOS 2 and I really don't like it... made me lose interest in DOS2. I mean it just makes any battle a game of "floor is lava". Don't get me wrong I'm not saying this feature is bad but it should be occasional and not all over the place and every low level mob spamming AOE. The feedback is: just please let us have less of a "floor is lava" game.
Apart from that (and the bugs which I'm sure will be squashed) I really like the game, but the 2 things I'm afraid might put me off in the long run. So here's me hoping for an awesome adventure! :)
It's so great to get a massive DRM free game with no online purchases and everything included. This Elden Ring, and Witcher 3 should be praised for that.
I'm going to compare this to DOS2 and Pathfinder. So far, I prefer the combat in Pathfinder. I have a better sense of control and understanding of battles in that. Pathfinder is harder. DOS2 is easier than BG3.
Where this game shines is in exploration, presentation, and dialogue. There is so much verticality and interesting spaces to explore. It blows away Pathfinder or even DOS2 in this regard. And the cinematic conversations are in another universe compares to all other CRPGs.
I have played this quite a bit in early acccess and gotten some way into chapter one in full release. I haven´t really played a lot of larian games before and haven´t played the baldurs gate games. But logged considerable amount of hours into the NWN games. And I can only assume original Baldurs Gate is similar to NWN when it comes to game mechanics and game play.
So if you compare this to NWN franchise skill rolls like persuade, intimidate and so on is considerably easy here, almost any character can manage a perform, persuade attempt in a dialogue. In NWN you really need to invest in those skills to be viable to use them.
The hybrid combat mode is a good idea, but sadly insanely exploitable and not fully working in my most humble opinion. For example mke your party hide, ungroup your party place them strategically to plan out your ambush. Attack with character A, he/she will get 1-2 free rounds of attacks. Sneak up with character B he/she will be out of combat and can get several free kills/attacks. Rinse and repeat wit Character C and D.
Going at it normally as intended makes any fight considerably harder.
As for skills and similar all they do is provide a bonus on the dc check, but no limitations on xx skill to use xx item or craft xx item.
The game mechanics feel rather rushed and no clear idea what they wanted to make with it.
As for the story so far I have no issues with it, I wish the game would have more follower conflicts. For insance please follower A will cause follower C and E to be upset.
So far i´m satiesfied with my purchase but not mega excited, I would probably recommend to pick it up on sale.
