Good game but buggy
I have not yet finished the game (act 3) so I'll probably update this review, but... I just have to write this. It's been over a year since release, many years since early access began and it's still very buggy. Many triggers don't work correctly. Examples below: - first encounter with Laezel and the protagonist acts as if (s)he didn't know about the druid's grove existence, although in my playthrough Laezel was one of the last things discovered on the surface level in act 1; - Wyll didn't sold his soul for Duke's life, but more than half people in the camp speaks as if he had agreed to Mizora's deal; - I think it was Raphael (don't remember, could be another NPC) who said "I see your try to get rid of the tadpole failed" before my protagonist attempted to remove the tadpole. I'm not a fan of insta-love in books/movies/games, but BG3 is on another level. Companions' feelings feel forced (by the writers). I always chose dialogue options other than hug/touch/wink-wink. It didn't matter though - at least half of my companions are in love with my PC. There are many gameplay bugs, most of them are annoying and fight-related. E.g. game tells you "yes, you can jump/go/reach there" so you spend your move/action to do so but suddenly your character stops. You wonder why and the game says "it's too far", "you have no resource: action" etc. And there's the writing. If I was playing DnD and my DM came up with some of the consequences of my choices the same way BG3 did, I would never play with that DM again. I won't give examples because I don't want to go too much into spoilers, but Larian gives the players freedom of play but many quests and the plot seem as if they were written for a specific playthrough/approach. I guess I didn't explore the levels developers wanted me to and on many occasions I felt punished because of it. On audiovisual side this game is a masterpiece. VAs did a great job and IMO are the reason for GOTY awards. For me it's a solid 8/10.
