An RPG heaven
Around 70 hours into the game (two seperate playthroughs, one alone and one with friends) and I merely got into the second act. The world is full with details and great stories all along. Main story looking to be the best and most intriguing of any video game I've played so far. Looking to do a full review once I completed a playthrough.

Not really Baldurs Gate, but fun ....
This will be short, have only 20 hours playtime, half each in Solo and Multiplayer, but ... this game is EA and better then many games that state themselves as finished. Its work in progress, you get hints/proof on this at many edges, but all in all ... its great already. Video (especially the cutscences) and Audio is AAA+, Interface, useability, palayability, stability and balancing ... already good (but can and will be made better) and gameplay ... well, if you like tactical turnbased RPGs you will love this! Even though there are some rough edges still ... its EA. I am impressed, Larian! Only thing I dont get still is, why did you call it Baldurs Gate 3. It does not feel like BG, same lore, but totally diffrent game, not worse, not bad in anyway .... but not BG. But thats no real prob for me ... I play for fun and this game already gave me a lot of it!

Not quite Baldur's Gate but still nice
I gave this game benefit of the doubt. I came in with my expectations low due to massive amount of negative (or at least not very positive) reviews. And as I near the end of the first act this game grows on me, It does play like a Divinity Original Sin games more than a bit, that's true. BG3 doesn't quite get the vibe of the first two games. Maybe it's the goblins, maybe some other elements ( I do not want to spoil too much) but it gives off quite strong Icewind Dale vibes. That is not that bad. Still Forgotten Realms. Writing is somewhat uneven - in places it's quite good, in others it's rough around the edges ( but that's to be expected with Early Access). Generally I must say that I quite enjoy this game so far. It may not be the perfect Baldur's Gate game, but it is still a good game. And if it misses the mark it's not all the way off. I'm very curious what will finally come out of this, but it certainly looks quite promising.

EA review of BG3
So, let me start by saying I actually like DOS 1 and 2, good games that were entertaining. I would recommend BG3 on that alone. The game has good graphics, the world is interesting and I'm piqued for the story to continue. Speaking cinematics are interesting as well. The world is HUGE, at 40 hours I'm still exploring and finding out new areas and secrets. It has felt engaging as a game for certain. On the downside, combat is slow as molasses. My goodness, was I bored waiting for 30 minute battles. For some reason, these battles were ok in DOS 1 & 2 but in Baldur's Gate 3 they feel sooooo drawn out. I wish RTWP was an option, not looking to get rid of turn based, but still, sooo boring. I guess that's just not Larian's forte. It also doesn't feel Baldur's Gate, too many Larianisms in the game, as an overabundance of clickable containers, too many ground effects/barrels to be thrown, etc. The graphics remind me too much of DOS, which is too cartoony for a D&D game. Somehow, I feel like I fail way more skill checks than I should and it just feel like a bastardized version of 5E. Also, most companions feel like a-holes, even after getting to know them. I could use some less snarkiness. Still, Gale is awesome! Anyways, I would still recommend this game based on Larian's record and future potential. I would not recommned playing EA just yet, not enough there. That being said, I hope Larian listens to feedback and does some major changes to this game, it definitely needs them. Oh, and yes, EA, loads of bugs/glitches/incomplete content. Just FYI if you do choose to purchase it. TLDR: Game has great potential, loads of content, beautiful cinematics, engaging world. It also has bastardized D&D play, extremely long boring battles, companions that seem to mostly hate your character, does not "feel" like BG, more like DOS. Wait to purchase is my recommendation, it's not like EA is saving you money.
