Baldur's Gate 3 - Digital Deluxe Edition upgrade
Description
Cross-platform multiplayer with Steam is supported.
Gather your party, and return to the Forgotten Realms in a tale of fellowship and betrayal, sacrifice and survival, and the lure of absolute power.
Mysterious abilities are awakening inside you, drawn from a Mind Flayer parasite planted in your brain. Resist, and turn darkness against itself. Or embrace corruption, and become ultimate evil.
From the creators of Divinity: Original Sin 2 comes a next-generation RPG, set in the world of Dungeons and Dragons.
Choose from a wide selection of D&D races and classes, or play as an origin character with a hand-crafted background. Adventure, loot, battle and romance as you journey through the Forgotten Realms and beyond. Play alone, and select your companions carefully, or as a party of up to four in multiplayer.
Abducted, infected, lost. You are turning into a monster, but as the corruption inside you grows, so does your power. That power may help you to survive, but there will be a price to pay, and more than any ability, the bonds of trust that you build within your party could be your greatest strength. Caught in a conflict between devils, deities, and sinister otherworldly forces, you will determine the fate of the Forgotten Realms together.
Forged with the new Divinity 4.0 engine, Baldur’s Gate 3 gives you unprecedented freedom to explore, experiment, and interact with a world that reacts to your choices. A grand, cinematic narrative brings you closer to your characters than ever before, as you venture through our biggest world yet.
The Forgotten Realms are a vast, detailed and diverse world, and there are secrets to be discovered all around you -- verticality is a vital part of exploration. Sneak, dip, shove, climb, and jump as you journey from the depths of the Underdark to the glittering rooftops of the Upper City. How you survive, and the mark you leave on the world, is up to you.
allows you to combine your forces in combat, and split your party to follow your own quests and agendas. Concoct the perfect plan together… or introduce an element of chaos when your friends least expect it.
offer a hand-crafted experience, each with their own unique traits, agenda, and outlook on the world. Their stories intersect with the entire narrative, and your choices will determine whether those stories end in redemption, salvation, domination, or many other outcomes.
based on the D&D 5e ruleset. Team-based initiative, advantage & disadvantage, and roll modifiers join combat cameras, expanded environmental interactions, and a new fluidity in combat that rewards strategy and foresight.
through your choices, and the roll of the dice. No matter who you play, or what you roll, the world and its inhabitants will react to your story.
allows you to pause the world around you at any time even outside of combat. Whether you see an opportunity for a tactical advantage before combat begins, want to pull off a heist with pin-point precision, or need to escape a fiendish trap. Split your party, prepare ambushes, sneak in the darkness -- create your own luck!
Play this game with a friend and you will have an absolute blast!
Playing it solo is also a fantastic experience, but everything is more fun with friends. =)
I honestly don't have anything negativ to say as of yet.
There is some tiny weird camera angles at times in cutsceens and the enemy AI sometimes takes a little long (A few extra seconds) to think about what to do. But other than that, I don't really have negative things to say. (Maybe I'll find more at a later time.)
Play and enjoy this game, it's a gift to humankind!
I never actually played Baldur's Gate, I enjoyed Neverwinter Nights (especially with the Aurora engine to let you create your own scenarios.)
Now, while I have been enjoying this game a lot, I'll state right now that the so-called balanced mode is anything but. If you want to sit and enjoy the game as an adventurer, balanced is not for you. Sure you can call me a dweeb or whatever. I don't really care. I want to play a game and enjoy it. I don't want to have to scum save and die over and over in frustration. That is what balanced mode did for me.
Adventure mode was more to my liking and let me just tell you: My nephew who tells me I don't know how to play and that I am a whimp, is also playing adventure mode LOL.
My other complaint, regardless of how you skew it, is that the battles are horrible. Not in the sense of the actual battles, that is decent. It's the camera views. You have little control over the camera for viewing. Sure you can pan and strafe, but you can ABSOLUTELY not look up. I mean in this day and age, looking up would be useful as you can (hmm I don't know) see where you might like to go. See what is above you in a cavern or castle. See the enemies above and be able to target them. Because trying to find a higher ground is nye impossible when you are in a battle.
I have just started the second act after about 2 weeks of evening play. But, honestly, I just can't seem to continue as the camera makes the game frustrating. I mean when you are walking along mountain paths and through forests, wouldn't it be nice to see the clouds, the sky, the dragon that just flew over. Nah, Larian's design is flawed in that respect as you get a glimpse. Always a glimpse.
I'll just say this, if I could control the camera the way I desire (looking up and around for places to jump, climb, etc.) I would definitely give this game a higher score.
The Last of Us has been my favorite game of all time for 10 years now. Until BG3 came along. While it may not be as polished, it shines so brightly in so many ways that it's hard to beat, especially when you throw in the ton of imaginative freedom. And it loosely teaches D&D to boot. Incredible. Couldn't recommend more highly. Wish I had enough money to buy for everyone I know, and everyone they know.
Couple failures to launch in both a technical standpoint (while it was still early access, so, issues were rectified) and a couple of times failed to grab me after a good amount of gameplay. I did however return to it after 1.0 and some patches and such, and I modded a few cosmetic things to make armor and clothse look the way I liked, but otherwise I couldn't sing morepraise for this game. Some seriously unfinished writing areas-House of Hope End/Choices/battle was a cheesefest in only one good way, and a few others that don't stand out but felt like there was something intended to continue, or follow through or a way to proceed or solve that fizzled into burnt ends.
All in all, I am going to immediately replay through this and do a wildl different character. Let's get some VO work for our protag and I'd barely murmer a complaint. Romancing a Gith is everything you need it to be...
