Enjoyable game
Simple, yet entertaining. Bad North is a seemingly basic, yet surprisingly complex, game of strategy and simple resource management. You start with two commanders that you can customize the starting item, trait (Items and traits unlock for selection at start by completing certain objectives in-game) and portrait of. Your goal is to then fend off enemies invading a series of islands, trying to save as many people/posessions as possible from the incoming raids in the process. Your reward for succeeding is gold, which you use to upgrade your units. Assigning/progressing in one of three classes, strengthening item effects/usages and levelling a unique abiity that each class has access to. You repeat this process, gaining access to an ever-increasing variety and number of enemies as the raids progress along the chain of islands, until the final battle which is do or die for your squad. The game will likely surprise you with the enemy variety and their interactions with the different unit classes you command, so it's easy to find yourself playing multiple runs to gain permanent unlocks, to fine-tune your general strategy, or even as a game you simply come back to over time for an enjoyable time.
