The gameplay loop is so richly varied that finding new ways to break the game with a build is always entertaining, it is just a shame that the presentation surrounding this gameplay is so lackluster.

Despite floundering a bit with meta-progression mechanics, Backpack Hero is still a thoroughly entertaining deckbuilding roguelike. Its use of item management as a central game mechanic is wildly inventive, and I consistently wanted to reenter the dungeon just to explore new item synergies. I do wish the town sections didn’t drag the pace of the main campaign as much as they did. But even if you strictly use the Quick Game mode, Backpack Hero is still a worthwhile venture.

Fun-frustrating
It's great, but hard to start over on some missions with odd gimmicks. Makes it fun if you don't forget and punishing if you forget often lol. But cute, rewarding, and a lot of charm is in this game.

A lot of fun
Surprisingly complex, especially compared to other inventory management games. Its a lot of fun, and the town building aspect seems interesting. If I had to complain, its basically two things: some item behavior is not explained well & it needs a page that tells you some of the automated things that happen per turn (like how much armor total will i generate per turn)

cute dungeon crawl
A fun concept. Whatever you can fit in your baclpack is what you have to fight with. Figure out a balance between permanenet and temp items to achieve victory. Some runs you are unstoppable and some you barely sqeak by.
