An adventure to share, full of fun, slapping and friendship.
The year is 50 B.C. Gaul is entirely occupied by the Romans. Well, not entirely... One small village of indomitable Gauls still holds out against the invaders. And life is not easy for the Roman legionaries who garrison the fortified camps of Totorum, Aquarium, Laudanum and Compendium.
Peace reigns in the small Armorican village, where the villagers go about their daily business. Our two heroes, Asterix and Obelix, hunt wild boar, the blacksmith and the fishmonger quarrel, and the village chief strolls around the village square atop his shield.
One day, the village druid, Getafix, receives a strange letter. It is from Avina Gandir, the high priestess of Thule! She warns the druid of a grave threat to his people and asks him to take a mysterious Menhir out of its hiding place...
Set off on an exciting adventure and immerse yourself in the world of Asterix! Alone or in co-op, explore the lands of the Roman empire and unravel the mystery of the Crystal Menhir and its incredible powers!

There's nothing in this one I could really criticize. I had no issues with the game (running it at 60FPS with an RX480, i5-6600, 16GB of RAM, no OC anywhere). This game is fun and it's even better than its predecessors! It looks much more like an Asterix story, rather than a random collection of different games with Asterix and Obelix as the heroes. The fighting is much more fun with more trademark moves by the heroes (slaps, upercuts that send the Roman's flying etc). Um, maybe I would like a "jump" button, instead of a "leap" one, but that's all. You get to go visit, Egypt, Greece, Rome and of course the Village.... Everything adds up to an Asterix classic game and story!
I have had a great time playing this game by myself or with my family. The artstyle is nice and cartoony, and the gameplay is forgiving.
It can feel a bit slow at times, but i generally had a good time playing this, i think this is well deserving of a 5 star
Still, I think this game is overhated, it doesn't deserve such low score as it gets here right now (2.8/5), that's why I'm definitely giving it 5.
I'm not really into Asterix & Obelix lore, that's maybe why I'm more forgivable, my experience is mostly XXL1 recently (sure, it was more unique and more funny), but this game still has its charm.
Graphics are cartoonish and enjoyable to look at, characters look funny, soundtrack even if not as memorable as XXL1, still totally fulfills its role.
And most important part - gameplay is fun, even if with some cons. Combat is fast and responsive, technically there aren't many skills to use, but it's enough to make game interesting. There is throwing enemy into air, making tornado, or aerial heavy attack with different effects etc. You can upgrade most of them, but its not very developed system, every skill has 1/2 upgrades + there are hearts or increasing "stamina" required to using skill. It's enough to feel progress during your journey though. Asterix can also use his potions and Obelix can get help from Dogmatix.
Levels are rather linear, still there are sometimes additional roads or secrets (I'm still not sure what's use of them), also there are small sidequests, which are usually time based minigames. You can go back to every level even after clearing it, which is helpful if you want 100% this game.
And this won't be that simple, because on hard difficulty game is quite challenging, especially during clearing camps, which requires you to memorize enemies and choose your path amongst them.
Overall it's really nice game, considering its only ~2,5€ during sales it is fully recommended imo, biggest problem for me was rather small enemy variety, even if every of them required bit different strategy, it would be more interesting to fight against more types of Roman troops.
Could have been 4 stars but you can't jump or swim which is a massive downgrade compared to the 2 previous game. Some ennemies can stun lock and kill you
have a problem with the orange screen. The menu works, but an orange screen appears when starting the game and the game freezes after a while. Please help :)
