AquaNox

Right away I liked the premise for this game. There are alot of 1st person space sims out there but this time they've taken the same game-play and put you in charge of a range of small combat subs..and it works. Don't go looking for too much depth (no pun intended). I'ts a straight up arcade sim with some story elements. Sometimes you will be asked to travel to other underwater cities and deal with the seedy locals and in this respect i really liked the atmoshphere. If youve played Bioshock you'll kinda get the idea--it's a run-down and murky place to be and the characters you meet often reflect that..... Interaction with the locals is pretty basic. You point and click and scroll through text dialogue. There is no real development of your character aside from the subs you choose to pilot.. So to sum up you can look at this game a few ways. Freespace Gets Wet.....or......Crimson Skies takes a swim Either way it works, its fast and enjoyable and gets a massive 3 out of 5 stars.

I loved the atmosphere and the playability on this one. For me it was just the right blend between action and atmosphere and the game was over in a blink. The sequel is even superior in terms of story and graphics. But I also had a lot of fun playing this one again.

idk why, but this game is as much fun as 20 years ago. the graphics manage to stay nearly up to date, as in such a submarine world it's no surprise to see rather "steelplate"-quadratic construction parts on buildings - and gameplaywise, i wouldn't know of anything comparable that'd be allowing those smooth maneuvers. some helpful controls that the game doesn't explain to you: 2x forward = booster 2x reverse = engine off/on rightclick = switch launched torpedo type a proper resolution is 1200x768 and my logitech M705 mouse seems a bit too hightech, had to put X & Y viewing controls down to 4% each (toggle X/Y with left/right keys when "setting name" is selected) and, if the game tells you to bring EMP weaponry to a mission, it will crash if you don't bring the empactor. no need to reset the graphic & control settings as supposed by the game then, just equip the thing. seriously, get this game, it's great! quick action, nice story, harper throwing his combo-insults around is already worth buying it xD i think about buying a joystick just to play this game next time, so you folks might wanna get one before!

I love this game, the only thing that kept me guessing was no tutorial whatsoever. I had no clue how to turn off the engine so i had to keep improvising for several minutes. For people with the same problem - it's double tap on S
