Ape Out

I was taken in by the positive reviews. Boy, was I disappointed. The music is unbearable, only disjointed bass rumbles. The level starts out with an animation of the title, obscuring the playing area, and it takes so long that restarting often makes me want to curse the game for lagging. The graphics make it difficult to tell where the walls are and where the enemies are facing. Killing them all along the way does not feel satisfying or liberating at all. So, they want to kill you, you tear them apart and smash them bits - who cares? Worst of all are the controls. The game wont let you play with only a keyboard or mouse. You always need to use both at the same time. What I want to do with my right hand needs to be done with the left. Swivel makes it feel as if you are controlling a drunkard, not an ape....

Good sound design and aesthetic. Poor game design and frequently rage inducing, which is utterly inexcusable in 2019 where there are countless tips and guides online on how to create an enjoyable game and avoid invoking game rage. Every level feel the same, even though it's on randomly generated maps. Supposed to be a Hotline Miami clone with an ape but fails where HM succeeded - being fun.
