Another World: 20th Anniversary Edition

This game was a classic even in its time, distinctive and stylish

I remember the game for its great story and graphics, but it's not really worth playing it, unless you like extremely frustrating gameplay. When you control the hero, you are constantly in some sort of danger, you can get shot by the hostile aliens or fall off a cliff. The danger comes unexpected, and you will probably die four or five times before you can survive the challenge. It's all trial and error with no living chance, unless you have a sixth sense for surviving random attacks. Forget about this game. It's not a classic.

I don't mean to disrepect a game that just by looking at it, it becomes obvious how much of an impact this has had on gaming, but this is an experience that i cannot recommend to newcomers like me playing for the first time today. This isn't just me depreciating the game because its old, i wouldn't be on GOG if i wasn't interested in "old" games, is just that Another World really doesn't offer much in exchange for what it ask for players today. Yes, the atmosphere, the music and the graphics (the retro ones) are great, and i must mention that this port is pretty competent. But on the downside the responsiveness of the control is not on par with the challenge, resulting in more frustation than its worth it. I understand that its been 30 years (1991) since the original release, and for its time what they did is commendable, but playing it today guarantees frustation. If this is a more modern version they should have done something with the way this plays to resolve this issue, there is an "easy" mode but it didn't change nothing, maybe the game would be even shorter with less dead but at least it would be welcoming to newcomers. Over the years i've heard about this game's legacy and that's why i decided to play it, but there is just no reason to play this game when Limbo and Inside exist. No disrespect to the people that grew up with this, but if you ar a newcomer like me just trust me and watch the playtrough online. Trust me.

This is the game that made me a PC gamer....there was nothing like this on any console at the time....such a great expierence!
