I love the visuals but hate the gameplay — too much try-and-die repetition. I played (the Android version) about halfway, then switched to watching a playthrough and enjoyed that better.
Yes, the game's got style and atmosphere up the wazoo, but the actual 'game' part of Another World can be frustrating and it's really not all that fun. Plus, it's probably the shortest game on all of GOG. It probably took me about three-and-a-half hours to beat - first time I've ever played it - and that's with all the countless deaths and figuring out in which order I have to do things. No, the experience wasn't completely horrible, but I believe too many people overpraise the game.
There was also one place at which I got totally stuck for a while, which I don't think anybody could figure out unless they have some tremendous random luck. I'm talking about a particular crack in the floor, which is as far from apparent as can be.
I have only play this.
And I really can't understand why people love this game so much.
I can understand the orrible grafic (it's a very old game) but it's really difficult to play this game... not only because it's difficult it also have some "lag" on command.
The story it's the only great part but not so great. It's not original.
If you are not a nostalgic one I think that you can stay away from this game... but if you are curios buy it and try.
Ok now you listen to me - you people are GENIUS! GENIUS! GENIUS! for putting this game on your catalog! THE most revolutionary and important game i played at the time in early 90s and i miss games like this one a LOT. I only wish more games like these were developed nowadays with current graphics but keeping the same amazing quality of story/drama development.
This isn't much of a review but seeing this one here on GOG.com is a dream which became true. THANK YOU A LOT!
A game you feel bad having forgot about it's so unique and enjoyable. Changed my mind about what a game could be with it's original release. Think before you do, was not a hugely popular approach to game design in my experience prior to Another World. Every solution, once you figure it out, makes sense rather than the "Oh, you have to slap the unicorn first." solution many others games had to digress to.
