Another World: 20th Anniversary Edition

A game you feel bad having forgot about it's so unique and enjoyable. Changed my mind about what a game could be with it's original release. Think before you do, was not a hugely popular approach to game design in my experience prior to Another World. Every solution, once you figure it out, makes sense rather than the "Oh, you have to slap the unicorn first." solution many others games had to digress to.

This game is, in a word, incredible. Always has been, always will be. You play as a scientist whose experiment sends him to *drumroll* another world. The game play is simple in some respects and very complex in others, with very little in the way of controls to learn and brain-bending environmental puzzles that'll torture you to no end. This HD remake, despite improving the background graphics signficantly, thankfully leaves the characters untouched (aside from them being hi-res now). Really, this remake is a dream come true. I can't stress enough how great this game is, and it'll age even better now.

If ever ANY game deservered the title CLASSIC, then well, lets be honest it's this. Nostalgia apart (and yes, I have very recently replayed this) it is still one of the best games i've EVER played and my back/current catelogue is VERY extensive. Going back to my C64 days only Heavy Metal Paradroid (the later incarnations were variable but never matched this one) and this game, are still are residnt on a souped up PC that 10 years ago could have send man to the moon. Look, lets make this simple, if you don't already own this then buy this, don't even give it another thought, buy this as it's a piece of gaming history and still a great game to play.

what a fantastic and groundbreaking game. Definitely shows its age and maybe doesn't hold up as well as some other classic games, but it is still a satisfying adventure. I forgot how frustratingly difficult it was though! I think I was considerably more patient when I first played this game as an adolescent :-)

I never finished this game. Couldn't escape the prison. I remember it having codes to skip levels. So I got to see bits and chunks of it. What I saw I loved.
