Anno 1602 A.D.

(Basing this off the American 1602 A.D.) I purchased this off my uncle at a yard sale when I was 8 or 9. My mom and I fell in love with the game. It's just brilliant. I have fond memories of fighting the occasionally buggy LAN to play with all three of us shortly after getting DSL. The thing I want to emphasize is just how relaxing it is. Even though it's multiplayer and is competitive, the soothing vibes of the graphics and the music just make it feel sunny. You largely tend to your own islands and interface with the other players as-needed. The trading mechanics are great, too. Like, really, really great. I want to play it now. Need to go visit my mom and see if she'd be up for it.

I don't need to say much about the game, I agree with most of the reviewers. But sadly I'm encountering a bug where my ingame screen goes weird every color changes in either white mint green or pink, this is however fixable by saving and restarting the game but the occurs ever 10-15 minutes which gets very annoying

1602 is the oldest and the most basic of the Annos and it does what it does well. But I suppose anyone looking into this game knows this and played it before. If you want the main gameplay loop and nothing else to get in the way, play this one. I am running Windows 10 64bit and all I had to do was downloading the offline installer, run it and start it up. Not sure how well it does in the launcher, but I had 3 guides ready how to make it run on modern systems and didn't need any of them.

I struggled to play some nice old games for a long time now. Finally I got lucky in finding this website. Never thought that such an old game would run easily under 64 Bit, but somehow they managed it. Played Anno about 50 hours now and had a game crash once. That's a great result I think because old games just used to crash sometimes ever since. There might be some trouble with the ingame sound because when the speeker told me to check my trading routes I sometimes had lags for 1-2 secs. But that's an issue I can live with for playing such an old diamond of games. Because of the little issues I rate this 4 stars.

- If anyone has colours problem, before playing, will try the solution: Get high contrast colour off like "Left Shift + Left Alt + Print Screen: High Contrast Mode. You can toggle on or off the High Contrast Mode of Windows by holding down both the Shift key and the Alt key on the left side of your keyboard then tapping the Print Screen (PrtScrn) key." Works on win 7 and win 10 for this game Anno 1602. - Remember about frequent save game.
