The world of author Dane Krams' debut on the game development stage isn't as cuddly as it may seem. Anna however, is actually perfectly nice - or is she? It all starts with freeing talking teddy bear...
Anna's Quest unfolds a hand-drawn, grim tale with a good dash of self-irony.

I was seeking a long time for a game that I can play with my daughter, I tried out other cartoonish adventures but those are for adults. This game was a positive surprise to me. We both loved this game because of the cute graphics, good dialogues and just perfectly balanced puzzles. There are very few scary moments (I can mention that dinner in the dungeon, without saying too much). Overall we saw character development and a fair story that can teach somethiing to a child. I recommend it.
This game has a great concept but very little follow through. I enjoyed the graphics and the slightly dark storyline but found game play to be agonizingly slow and some what fusterating as I played futher and further into the plotline. I found some of the puzzles impossible without a walkthrough (ie. you have to hit the replies in a specific order, often with repeats). Storyline was repeative and character interactions were long with little payoff. Towards the end I was just playing to get it done and was disappointed it did not end sooner.
Ok I really like this game, but there are heavy bugs.
1. The transition between the sentences is too short and sometimes a sentence starts, before the previous has finshed.
Some other user here in the forum mentioned that for chapter six, but I have this from the beginning on.
2. The first time I played the game, I played till I arrived Wunderhorn and saved there.
It was the third savegame I created.
Next day I load the game and after some playing I wanted to save, but I couldn't!
I can not create new save games on empty slots and can not overwrite older ones (it asks for overwrite but doesn't do it!).
Pressing F9 creates a quicksave where I can also load from after quitting and restarting the game, but this is a no-go.
How can Daedalic be so idiotic and not patch these things?
I've red in the steam forums about same experiences and other bugs, that make the game unplayable (a so called "glitch" for example, where you get stuck in a screen but only when you red something before, but you need to read it to solve the puzzle in that screen where you will get stuck wtf?!)
I like Anna and the lore, the graphic, the music, the humor, but these bugs are technical disasters that a developer _have to_ fix, it is a must-do!
The underlying idea is good hence two stars rather than one, however the illogicality of the solutions required to move forward resulted in me having to use a walkthrough and even then the game was painfully long due to the endless dialogues that led nowhere in particular.
Worst of all though is Anna's awful voice and sugary sweetness that is reminiscent of US customer service of the worst kind. It left me wishing to feed Anna to witches, Devil or anyone else. Given that this is produced by a German company, that other voices are European, I do not understand why Daedalic forces us to suffer this ghastly Yankee whine.
All other things - the plot, the music, even the graphics... - are bad or nearly that. Mostly the plot.
The end is awful. AGAIN.
"Daedalics" want our money? How clever. :) But make fine game with logical final (that doesn't ruin whole playing process) first. ;)
