A little buggy, but still enjoyable

The biggest bug I encountered was the aspect ratio would change everytime I would save the game. Not game breaking, just annoying. The game itself is very enjoyable although some of the puzzles make you question reality. Who would have thought to throw the figs down the nostrils of the sphinx? I certainly didn't and had to look that up. The Story is decent, but the humor is top notch. It's some good ol slapstick humor that just pokes fun at things. If you like point and click adventures, then this is certinaly worth checking out.

An Average Graphical Adventure Game

This review is being written after finishing the game. Ankh is an older graphical adventure game written and designed as a homage to even older graphical adventure games (think Lucas Arts). The game has a humorous script. The puzzles are mostly well thought out and straight forward.   However the game does have some downsides. The overall story does not really make much sense. The cast, including the main character, are rather bland and forgettable. The screen resolution kept switching between widescreen and boxed whenever a cutscene was encountered. There are a lot of items to click upon but are not needed and are not added to the inventory. Makes one wonder about the need to come back to use the item again later. In most cases, the answer is No. There are 3 games in the series. This review is only for the first game. I do intend to play the other 2 games in the series and review each of them. Bottom line, if you are a fan of graphical adventure games, like I am, the game is worth picking up on sale. Just do not expect a memorable adventure.

fun classic adventure game, good humor

If you like the egyptian setting this game pulls you into, then you're in for a treat. There's some fun to be had with the classic adventure puzzles and funny dialogues. Unlike the second and third game here on GoG (to date), this one has the German voices included, you just need to swap out / rename the language folders in "/media/conversations". And voila, Ankh's voices are played back in your preferred language! Fun fact: the game also works fine in triple-widescreen mode, although the menus will be stretched. --- Sofern ihr Rätsel-Spiele mit ägyptischem Setting mögt, wird euch Ankh sicher ein paar Stunden in den Bann ziehen können. Geboten werden klassische Adventure Puzzles und durchaus witzige / unterhaltsame Dialoge. Im Gegensatz zum zweiten und dritten Teil hier auf GoG (aktuell), sind hier die deutschen Stimmen mit enthalten, man muss nur die Sprachordner in "/media/conversations" austauschen/umbenennen. Und Voila! Die Stimmen von Ankh werden in deiner bevorzugten Sprache wiedergegeben! Fun Fact: Das Spiel funktioniert auch im Triple-Screen Modus, auch wenn die Menüs dann gestreckt werden.

Nice game for youngsters

Nice and harmless game for youngsters. Challenges are quite simple and gameplay poses no hurdles.

Short,Fun Point-and-Click Adventure

Ankh still holds up pretty well. It certianly scratched that point-and-click game itch for me. The world design was really what got me interested in this game originally, I think it holds up well enough to new eyes as well. The voice acting will be a different story, It was not great by 2005 standards - it is much worse by 2025 standards. Overall decent game, a good deal of nostalgia for anyone who grew up with games from this era.
