One of the best of its kind
To play the game you need to install an ancient nvidia physX program (as of 2024). Still has graphical and miscellaneous bugs that should have been squashed long time ago. Modders do your thing... please. A worthy continuating of roleplaying games that stretch and challenge the medium. A fun spy Action Intrigue game that is all thrills and no fills, a palate cleanser when between games. Just the right length, a hearthy game buffet. Focus on three or four abilities, this is a must. Specialize. When I was a child, one of coolest games I had ever experienced was a game called 'Sid Meyer's Covert Action'. It still is one of the few games, like this one, where you play as a spy. Years later 'Deus Ex' became one of the greatest gaming experiences I have ever had. This is, perhaps the only one, that has almost perfectly put those two experiences into one game. The perfect mixture of real-world intrigue and comic book outrageousness that, to my knowledge, was only achieved in DX. When you get the hang of it, the action, while far from perfect (which is a staple of the best of the best RPG's), becomes fun and a power thrill... if you play your cards right. Be a rolling thunder or a ninja. BUT the Meat of the game are its characters and navigating through the world of espionage. The game reacts to EVERYTHING you do and say. This is rarely if ever replicated. Like the best of the best, it belongs to the group of games where you can truly roleplay like 'Vampire Masquarade Bloodlines, Arcanum, Daggerfall, Fallout trilogy, Dragon Age Origins etc. If you accept it for what it is, not what it could be or should have been and enjoy the ride, this could be one of the best gaming experiences you have ever had. The same goes for all these afore mentioned games that are unique and there's nothing like them (which can make you melancholic when you think about it). The replay value alone makes this worthy of a purchase.
