Alien Shooter 2: Reloaded

There's a big difference between this and the original Vengeance. Vengeance is tons better. The skills seem to be removed, the multiplayer is gone and the co op campaign is also gone, one of the features that made this game good.

From a game designing point of view, Alien Shooter is a very complete e refined experience, with nice 2d graphics (beautiful sprites and excellent use of lightening, despite the somewhat cruder main character animations), solid and outright fun game play, very good atmosphere, and a sufficiently good plot for and action (rpg?). The simple, versatile controls are very well implemented, and would be ideal with not hampered by a poor path finding algorithm. The alien spree killing is just addictive. I would love to play a third version of the game with improved character customization. This game can receive the "diablo with guns" nick-name without a derogatory meaning. A must play for isometric action rpg addicted gamers.

This is a perfect little game to play when you've had a stressful day, just want to fire up an action oriented game and blast away, no thinking required. As others have mentioned the graphics aren't the greatest, but that really doesn't matter. Gunning down hordes of more aliens than you could possibly hope to survive, and somehow surviving anyway is awesome! This is a really great game for the price. Some cons (and they are minor, given the price of the game) the voice actors can sometimes be sub-par, especially compared to what you'd get in a triple-A title. The path finding / AI for the monsters needs to be tweaked. Aliens will often get stuck on an obstacle, not knowing how to simply go around it, while you gleefully mow them down. Also, the player character does the same thing. You have to explicitly guide him around every obstacle. The pathfinding isn't good enough him to avoid anything on his own. All in all, though, this is a fun little game. You'll quickly forget the graphics (and just about everything else) once you have your first serious rush, and have enough firepower to blow everything away!

It was on sale when I bought it, people had called it Diablo with guns. I thought, why not check it out? I figured I'd play a few hours and be done. 40+ hours later I still fire this game up from time to time to unwind. The story is stupid and the voice acting hilariously bad. But the engine is pretty dang good and there are lots of weapons to try. In a world of serious and gritty games this throwback is a nice breath of air. It was definitely a surprise hit for me, good times.
