HOW WILL YOU SURVIVE?

Discover the true meaning of fear in Alien: Isolation, a survival horror set in an atmosphere of constant dread and mortal danger. Fifteen years after the events of Alien™, Ellen Ripley’s daughter, Amanda enters a desperate battle for survival, on a mission to unravel the truth behind her mother's disappearance.

As Amanda, you will navigate through an increasingly volatile world as you find yourself confronted on all sides by a panicked, desperate population and an unpredictable, ruthless Alien.

Underpowered and underprepared, you must scavenge resources, improvise solutions and use your wits, not just to succeed in your mission, but to simply stay alive.

Overcome an ever-present deadly threat – Experience persistent fear as a truly dynamic and reactive Alien uses its senses to hunt you down and respond to your every move.

Improvise to survive – Hack systems, scavenge for vital resources and craft items to deal with each situation. Will you evade your enemies, distract them or face them head on?

Explore a world of mystery and betrayal – Immerse yourself in the detailed setting of Sevastopol, a decommissioned trading station on the fringes of space. Encounter a rich cast of inhabitants in a world scarred by fear and mistrust.

When she left Earth, Ellen Ripley promised her daughter Amanda she would return home for her 11th birthday. Amanda never saw her again.

Fifteen years later, Amanda, now a Weyland-Yutani employee, hears that the flight recorder of her mother’s ship, the Nostromo, has been recovered at the remote trading station Sevastopol. The temptation for her to finally understand what happened is too much to resist. When the crew arrive at Sevastopol, they find something is desperately wrong. It all seems to be connected to an unknown menace, stalking and killing deep in the shadows.

In order to uncover the truth about her mother, Amanda is forced to confront the same terrifying thing that separated them.

GOAT

A candidate to the greatest game of all time if you ask me. Imo the problem nowadays is that games can be pretty boring. And there are too many of them. Is it really better to have 100 boring games than 1 boring game?? But this one has exactly what you (me) are looking for in a video game. And is everything but boring. Smooth and good looks. And like everyone says the only one that truly looks like the movie it was intended to look like. And atmosphere overall. The game also follows the "less is more"-principle imo. Its not as if the more explosions and more guns you have the better a video game is. Its about having the right ones and the right "portion". It feels almost a bit like the movie Jaws (and of course.....eh Alien as well). Tense all the way and you never know when the creature might show up. Thats what its all about. Now Thats a genius video game. More about stealth than shooting. Shooting is something you do only if you have to in this game. Its also quite long which is a + considering the fact thats its like i said not a boring game. To me this is right up there with Ocarina of Time and Resident Evil 4....Has that masterpiece feel to it. -Marius

Aged Better Than Most Modern Titles

Slow build up to an otherwise amazing experience. Performs well on my older hardware except for frame timings during cutscenes. Otherwise I am locked at 1080p 60fps the whole way through. Anyone looking to scratch that survival horror itch and loves the original Alien movies should definitely try this game. The art direction is absolutely loyal to the original retro-futuristic aesthetic most fans know and love.

I can't let go

Spoiler Alert - some vey minor spoilers. I spent 25 years in the Marine Corps, including a tour in Iraq. Playing this game for an hour is more scary then the enitire 7 months I spent in Al Anbar province. To be clear, I was only shot at a few times, the insurgents weren't good shots, and knowing I was with other Marines and that I had an assault rifle was more then enough to keep me calm and confident. This game is the exact opposite of that. It's essentially a horror stealth game where the alien is unkillable and you the player are alone and defenceless for most of the game, You basically spend almost all your time hiding (or in my case, cowering in fear, especially when the alien is nearby) as you try to make your way through Sevastopol Station. The Alien is smart, fast, and lethal. And I've lost count on how many times it's killed me. I don't like horror stealth games, mainly becasue I don't like hiding and I don't like being defenceless. So why 4 stars and why do I play it? Mostly because I 've been a huge alien fan since 1979 when I first saw the original movie. The story still intrigues me 50 years later. And I like a challenge. And this game is certainly that. A terrifying, gut wrenching, heart pounding, soul searing, nightmairsh challenge.
