Alien Breed™ Impact is an explosive science fiction arcade-shooter that resurrects a much revered franchise with an epic story, swarms of highly intelligent alien enemies, high-impact weapons, highly detailed and rich environments; all implemented with superb technology in a state-of-the-art gaming experience.
Key Features:
Alien Breed is back! - An action-packed mix of arcade-shooter, survival-horror and tactical weapons upgrades and customisation.
Epic single-player story mode - The single-player campaign mode that follows the narrative of the game through five huge and challenging environments.
Single-player free-play mode - A single-player challenge mode – beat your high score on a previously completed campaign mission.
Upgrades shop - Search fallen comrades and lockers to accumulate cash, and then tactically spend it on weapons/kit upgrades in the shop.
Enemies - Re-imagined and improved Alien Breed enemies.
Undertaken all the 'generic' stuff they tell every 2 year old to do and nothing.
Will not launch, so not surprised they are giving it away. Just about to recuperate the Disk space this rubbish has taken up and I won't bother with the other 2 in the Trilogy.
ok, this is a fairly competent twin stick shooter, your ship collides with a derelict one, you get invaded by insectoid aliens , gotta escape your doomed vessel while mowing down hordes of enemies, fair enough, is not groundbreaking, you got a handful of weapons and a handful of items, the game will take you where you need to go, there are a few optional rooms with resources, and a few secret items to find, you can upgrade weapons and items for more firepower (free tip: don’t upgrade the rate of fire, you’ll just waste your ammo twice as fast) I played in veteran, not really hard, so you can try the hardest difficulty if you want a challenge ( use a gamepad, is more fun than M+KB)
However, the game has some serious issues, the most glaring are performance issues, after a 40 minutes session the game starts to stutter with increasing magnitude until if freezes and crashes, tried disabling dynamic shadows and postprocessing , which only delayed the inevitable and made the game lose its atmosphere, so here’s a possible solution that worked for me: enable vsync in you graphics card and in game, the real kicker is setting the affinity of the game to a single core ( I know, the old single core fix works), I played for 3 hours straight until I got my hands on the Ionspike weapon, as soon as I used it the game crashed to desktop, I could go back and replay the last 15 minutes to see if that issue persists, but since it could be related to previous fixes it would mean A. I need to undo the fix and restart the game every so often to avoid stutter, or B. not use the most powerful weapon in the game to avoid a CTD, and honestly, the game is not that good, so I’ll leave it at that, I’m gonna try the sequel, see if they improved things there, thanks for reading.
When I want to play in a freaking maze, I play Pac Man, thank you very much.
Imagine all the things you want from an "Aliens" inspired game. Got it? Now, imagine all the opposite of what you wanted! This is this game.
Weak guns? Check.
Getting lost in a boring complex? Check
Brain dead enemies with a cliché look? Check!!!
I can't describe how much I hate this game. And I got the whole trilogy, FML.
Game time feels padded with artificial obstacles, you know the type: 'Turn the thing on. Oh no, it's out of power, go other place to reactivate something. Try to turn that main thing again. Oh no, it exploded this time, go recalibrate something else, in some other place'. Every single time, with increasing amount of running around. Why I can't have things that work at once and solid story w/o these annoying breakdowns.
Also, there aren't many ppl around, but there are many alien bugs. How do they sustain themselves? With air? While in space? Some things do not make any sense. Overall, it's an average isometric shooter.
My rating would probably be closer to 3.5 stars
It's repetitive and had LOTS of back tracking, most of the objectives come down to "Activate thing to unlock door to activate thing to unlock door" while shooting alien bugs repeated for 5 levels, which take around 30-40 minutes each, It got pretty boring toward the end and I just turned off the games "Music" and put some metal on and sped through mowing down aliens, made it much more enjoyable, so I'd recommend playing that way.
