Alan Wake

This game was hailed in its time, but really, it plays and narrates like Silent Hill 2 light; additionally the controls/combat are as awkaward as had been stated before, and not terribly exciting, and if you arent interested in the narrative, you'll find it boring. It never achieves the creep or gameplay its hoping for, which older games did in spades with much less at their disposal. It isn;t about gloss and sheen, because this a pretty game, just not great, and techincally lesser games have done a great deal more. I absolutely loved Control, nothing against the studio; that is a great game; but if that drew you here, this is not that. Fair to middling would be more realistic. If you want the lore and a just decent experience, then you'll enjoy this. If not, you might run out of patience before you are halfway through. If you aren't curious about the storyline, you may just stop there. Personally: more interested in a sequal to Control than Alan Wake 2, honestly.

This game is seriously so good. I have yet to finish the Remastered version but the classic really held up for me. I loved how different the game ways compared to other horror games I've played. I started with this game in the franchise and I now own and have played the rest of the series as well as dabbled in Control. The controls are definitely fitting of when the game came out but I got a feel for it pretty quick. The haunting, isolating and depressing story really got me as well as the references and the excelent music selection. I love recommending this game to people.

I can't get it to download at all

This game is relatively easy and relatively short, but the amazing story and ambiance makes it well worthwhile. Sometimes you just want a fun engaging experience rather than a challenging week long mission. This game hits the spot.

Alan Wake is the story of a writer who takes a trip to a cabin on the lake with his wife, only to be thrust into one of his own stories. Guide Wake as he tries to uncover the mysteries surrounding the disappearance of his wife, and the violent shadow citizens of Bright Falls. Gameplay you travel around searching for clues and fighting shadow people straight out of your own book. Shine your flashlight on them to make them susceptible to physical attacks. Collect manuscript pages to unravel more and more of the mystery and help Wake escape a nightmare of his own creation.
