yeah
I truly feel this is the pinnacle of the genre -- fantasy turn-based strategy a la Heroes of Might and Magic. It just works.

TBS games dont get much better than this
ive played this game on and off for the last 17+ years, and thats mostly just skirmish, theres so much content here is insane, and theres fan sites still up hosting maps and scenarios even today i think the only turn based strategy games that are better than this, is the XCOM/X-COM series, overall this is a masterpiece

Amazing content for the price!
I just bought this today from the GoG summer sales for 3.99. It blew me away with its content and vast choices to make in game, yet keeping it simple enough for 4k newbies like myself. I previously bought the latest Warlock 2: The Exiled for 29.99 from Steam which kinda bored me quickly, despite its modern lovely graphics. AOW: SM with its 10 years old graphics instead, kept me stuck to the game and entertained. Needless to say, I shelved Warlock 2 and continued with my adventures here. A minor peeve though, I wish I could zoom in as it gets a bit hard to click on units at times with all the trees or enemy units standing in the way. Otherwise, AOW: SM has that old school charm, very strong RPG element and freedom of choice playstyle which I enjoy. Highly recommended!

One of the Greatest Games Ever Made
The Sequel to Age of Wonders 2, Shadow Magic has it's own campaign focused on four separate characters. Shadow Magic also has a Random Map Generator, Excellent mod support with a still active community, and adds the Shadow Realm and Additional races.
